Best ways to connect

Hi I was just been using the red/white/yellow RCA connections on all my equipment and it's time to upgrade the final piece of the puzzle. I`m wondering whats the best way to connect the oppo to the reciever and the reciever to the TV.

The 360 connects to the reciever using a componemt and l/r audio connects.

My real question what should I do with the oppo 981, it's got 5.1 audio connections, optical, rca and hdmi. The reciever has inputs for all and so does the TV.

Should I send oppo to reciever through HDMI, then reciever to TV through hdmi?

Send oppo to tv through hdmi and send the oppo audio to the reciver through optical?

Or some othe way completely?

The Oppo is meant to be connected via HDMI as it doesn't have component video outputs, so you should use HDMI to the receiver and HDMI to the TV, that is as long as your receiver can actually process the audio over HDMI (some don't).

The catch will be the xbox 360 using component video connections. The receiver must be able to transcode component video to HDMI in order for you to see the picture on the TV. If the receiver can't do that, then you'd have to connect it directly to the TV. You should use optical or coax digital connections from the 360 as well (whichever one it has available).

The xbox only comes with a set of componment for HDTV.

The reciever accepts two hdmi inputs? How do I tell if this is just dvi inputs or hdmi audio and video?

Theres a seperate componement outs, I can send those out to the tv along with the hdmi and then jsut switch inputs on reciever/tv?
