Def Tech Mythos wiring options

Anyone familiar with wiring options for the DefTech's.

I've auditioned them and ordered them (they need 2 weeks to get here) but I forgot to take a close look at the binding posts. I think they had banana plugs, but I can't remember if they also accept spades. I'd like to get some cables made while I'm waiting for the speakers to ship.

Here's what I ordered;

Mythos-one (f l/r)
Mythos-three (f c)
Mythos-Gem (r l/r)
SuperCube II (sub)

Connecting to Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi AV receiver, which accepts banana plugs for speaker connections.

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your purchase. I demoed the Mythos a few months back and really liked them. I never saw the back of them but a quick call to the store or the Deff Tech web site should get you the right answer. Most likely it's all of the above. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Nick.

I've crawled the entire DefTech web site and either I missed it or they just don't have it.

The Mythos seem just right for the small room (13 x 13) they're going in. I'm biased towards music (80%), but still enjoy movie special effects. These seemed like a reasonable compromise.

Plot thickens a bit...

I was reading a review by HDTV Magazine and found this;
Connecting this speaker system is
very easy, as the five-way binding posts
offer flexible connection.
Can anyone suggest what is the best option to connect speaker wires to "five-way" binding posts?

I'm assuming I can use either banana plugs, spades, nothing (just stripped wire), jacks?

Any pros and cons of either?

I don't have the mythos, but I have all def techs in my HT, and I personally prefer banana plugs connecting them. As in their name, they just plug right in, no screwing anything to tighten, no worrying about the spades coming loose, just plug in the banana plugs and your set. I do prefer the plugs that have the locking feature that blue jean cables sells. Those are nice and I definately don't worry about them coming loose and shorting out anything, like an 800 watt monoblock! :eek:

I like the idea of locking plugs. Are they the only co that makes them?

They aren't the only company making them, but they are the least expensive company supplying those particular locking plugs. Actually they don't make them just resell them. I have probably 5 or 6 types of banana plugs, and those are the ones I like best for my HT where I want to plug them in and forget about them and not worry about it.

Banana plugs are great if you have room behind the speaker.

If you're mounting them on the wall where rear clearance could be tight, I'd suggest spade lugs just to be safe. Bananas stick out more than an inch behind the binding post.

Good point. My rear channels, and my center channel will be wall mounted. Does anyone know how much clearance the DefTech Mythos 3 and Gem provide with their wall mounting kits?

Still shopping for interconnects. I read up on AH about the ImpactAcoustics cables and a little about the Bluejeans. Prices on these seem moderate.

Anybody know of any decent deals?

Also, I'm still wondering what the connection options are for my SuperCube.
