Ok I Built A Small Ht In My Basement. About 13 By 14. I Have Bought Jbl Venues Series For My Front Center And Rear. Looking For A Receiver. I Like The Reviews Denon Gets But Not Sure Which Model To Choose. Would Like Dual Room Controls And Latest Hdmi Connections. Dont Want To Over Power Or Underpower. Looking For A Sub That Is In My Price Range And Not To Big For This Room Size. Thinking About Sticking With The Venues Series But Not Sure If A T0 In Would Do It. I Like Tight Bass And It Would Be Used Primarily For Movies. Want To Get A Dvd Player With 1080 Upconversion Also. Not Sure What The Whole Difference Is With High Def And An Upconversion Player. Would I Need A Special Hdmi Cable? Please Someone Help!!!!!!!!

Your budget governs the specifics. But here are some brands to look into,

Receiver - Look at Yamaha or Denon or Marantz
DVD Player - Oppo Digitial, Denon
Sub - Hsu, AV123, SVS

Lay off the "Shift" key... please.

Receiver budget

With those speakers, I would check out receivers in the $300 price range like the Yamaha HTR-5960 or comparable models from Denon, Pioneer, and Onkyo.
Spending more on a receiver will not improve the audio quality, but better speakers will.

I have the entry level Oppo DV-970HD and would recommend one of their players. Only the most expensive model, the 981 will upconvert to 1080p. The free HDMI cable that comes with the player will work fine.

Dude, did you have a terrible accident that left your caps lock key permanently on? You really shouldn't type in all caps...

You notice that all his words are capitalized? That is due to caps lock filtering. He originally typed it all in caps and the forum changed it.

There is no such thing as a to powerful amplifier, or receiver. What budget are you working under?

Now I see what you are driving at, each word starts with a cap.

Personally, I would flip the budget for the receiver and sub.

And for a receiver: Onkyo TX-SR604. it's zone two capable, and has HDMI.

That would be probably the best option. The sub will affect the sound much more than the receiver.:)
