Well,

I have a sick Paradigm, It seems "the strain was more then it could bare" (not really but that is one of my favorite scenes from my favorite Western movie).

Now we will get a real time test on Paradigm's Costumer service. My only fear is that my Dealer will get in the way and just replace the whole speaker. It's already off to a bad start; I called him at home late last night and he met me at the store after hours so he could get his hands on the issue. I will let you know how it turns out if it gets turned over to Paradigm. Oh yeah...I am once again pleased that I made my purchase from a reputable, local dealer...

And, why would this be a problem?

Huh??? That would be the easiest and best solution wouldn't it? It's his job to get the customer a working product with as little hassle to the ciustomer as possible. And, as for dealing with Paradigm, that's also his job.

For sure that is the dealers job, and I think you could say he already went overboard when he met you when his shop was closed... I hardly know anyone that would do that...

Don't worry, it will all work out just fine...

Now what about it is the problem... blown tweeter..?
I wonder if you might want to think about a higher quality/powered amp to drive those more efficiently... On the other hand, sad enough to say I have read about a couple people having to replace tweeters in the .v4's

I can't say that I have had any problems with my setup... Good luck M8

Warp,

I am not certain what it is.

The speaker plays fine up to 70db and then the highs just cut out. Maybe tweeter, maybe crossover? I dont know anything about diagnosing speakers.

Yep...the dropped center might explain it but it's one of the 40's.

Sounds like a tweeter overload protection circuit or something in the x-over is heating up and losing contact or is loose already and a little vibration from use is making it loose.

Have you checked to make sure the jumpers are securely in place on the back?

The jumpers are the first place I looked. I also swapped the left and right to make sure it wasnt a speaker wire or the AVR. It was just the one speaker.

I stuck one of my old Sony speakers on the Paradigm and told the wife I was just going back to those and she said "get those Sony's out of the house; I dont care if you return the 40's and get the 100's, just get the Sony's out".

Anyone want a pair of Sony's?

Well I guess you just got the go ahead for trading in for the 100's... :D :D

Just wait til she's not home, and swap them out... :)

I should upgrade under the impression that I thought that's what she was really saying but I think I will just keep the 40's. I really need to buy a new lawn mower, edger, weedeater and blower.

I hear that. My wife wants a pool this summer; I said "no" we have to wait until next year. Judging by how she listened on the bedroom furniture; I am sure one day when I come home; there will be a backhoe in my backyard...

Warp...you should have moved to Texas; you could have got that house for 200k.

Im not sure about that.... They already dropped the price $100K before I got too it.. The appraiser was pissed he never saw this house, he could have made a quick $75-100k

My dealer just called and they cant get them to dublicate what was occuring. I think the car ride fixed them...lol...

Kind-of like your sputtering, missing car working perfectly when you take it to the mechanic...
