I'm hoping to get some help finding a good match for my new Magnepan MMGW/GC. Just blew up an old infinity rs12. It is a small to medium sized room with hardwood floors. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

In one of the netzine reviews of the Rocket UFW-10 sub, the reviewer mated a UFW-10 with MMG's, and was very happy with the match.

I have a pair of UFW-10's that I run below 70 Hz with BESL S5-MTM's, which have very light (fast) SEAS magnesium cones, and the Rocket 10" aluminum woofers keep up extremely well.

EDIT: I just noticed in the Audioholics review it says MSRP: $4999 . I didn't pay nearly that much. Current pricing is $599.00. Helluva deal IMO.

That was obviously a typo. There aren't many subs out there that cost $5k, and those that do are much nicer than the UFW-10.

All of the Rocket subs are out of stock temporarily... An alternative might be the SVS SB-12Plus. Small, sealed and should do well with those guys.

I have the same speakers right now and I am looking for a sub as well. I talked to the tech guy at Magnepan the other day and he said anything clean and fast, he prefers 8 or 10", not any bigger. They seem to like Hsu's offerings, and he also mentioned that they have the Onix X-Sub set up with one of their displays and that he likes it. Right now, I am leaning towards that, although for my room size the guys at AV123 suggested that I run 2 of them, and that isn't in the budget right now, so I'm still hoping to pick up a used or b stock something. If not, I'll probably start out with one x-sub and see how it does, possibly upgrade or add on later. I have a friend that has 2 MMGWs in a 2 channel set up, and they sound great, but he has no sub, so we felt like they were really missing something. We picked up a Velodyne VRP-1000 the other night to try and it wasn't' as tight as we wanted, but it really filled out the sound of the Maggies. If you haven't' heard your speakers yet with a sub, you'll be really pleased with how they do when you add one. If you come across any deals on a piece that works well, let me know, I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks for the help. I'm running an old Infinity RS12 with my new Yamaha 2600. The sub is about 8 years old and has been in storage for 2 years. I keep blowing the fuse! It all sounds great when its working. The Maggies sound great, crisp and clear! I have been looking @ the SVS NSD 10. I'll keep you posted on what I do.

Thanks for your help. Magnepan suggested nothing bigger than 10". I've been looking @ the SVS NSD 10.

If your looking for something "tight" and "fast" with a bit of grunt, try the REL R305. It has the speakon connector which you can run in line with your Maggies on your amp, which allows it to blend in very nicely. While running LFE, they'll give you a lot of punch, though they extend maybe to 23-25 Hz I believe. Check it out at sumikoaudio.net - give sumiko (importer of REL) a call if you have any further questions, they are VERY helpful.

The PB-10 is not your average 10" sub. I've owned it and it is a solid performer. The HSU VTF-2 Mk2 is also a 10" sub that has a nice, musical sound to it.

Svs & Hsu

I am torn over which sub will be the best for my app (HSU VTF 2 or SVS NSD 10). I have been leaning towards the SVS because it is front firing and the install space is 27" X 28". I was all set to go with SVS and then I read the HSU manual and it talks about installing in a center console. Any thoughts?

Rocket ULW 10 or SVS NSD 10?

I'm down to 2 choices now. Rocket ULW 10 or SVS NSD 10? Which one?

I have a 10" Definitive Technologies that I am trying out right now with my set up (4 x MMGW's and 1 x MMGC) and I really like it. Sorry I haven't used either of the 2 you are looking at. I wouldn't think you could go wrong with either though. If it were me, I would go with the rocket.
