Great Classic Movie.

I was up late last night with bad back pain (as i will be tonight ) so i decided to pop in a movie instead of a pain killer,the movie i chose was "being there" starring Peter Sellers.

What a fantastic movie,the movie is about a man named chance(peter sellers) who is mildly retarted,he is also a gardner on an estate where he has lived & worked a simple life,in fact a very secluded & sheltered life,after the master of the estate die's chance has no where to go but flat out on the street,broke & unwise to the way's of life.

His whole life all he knew was being a gardner & watching television,one of the best parts of the movie is where he(peter sellers) is confronted by a street gang & he try's to use an old style clicker remote to change the channel to get rid of the gang

The story line shows how he handle's seeing the real world for the first time & how his being so nieve eventually leads him straight to the top circle of politics in america & to being regarded as the top political mind in the world,one of the best & well wrote movies ive ever seen.

There are no big ole explosions to rock the house,no bullets to go whizzing behind your head,no shockingly real looking computer generated graphics,no pounding bass or killer sound track just a damm good movie with an excellent plot & story line.

I haven't seen that movie in several years. I remember really liking it. I thought it was hilarious how an "idiot" gardner ends up giving advice to the president and everyone thinks the stuff he says is so deep when he's really only talking about gardening.

Love Peter Sellers, these so called comedians of today can surely taken lessons from the man. BTW, if you've never seen The Party give it try, I think it's one of his best (if not the best)movie.

He he he,man that was a seriously funny scene,shelly winters was going nuts all over that bed & all he was worried about was that stupid remote control.

How's about the ending where after the funeral "chauncy" takes off walking & keeps going & ends up walking on water.

Love Peter Sellers, these so called comedians of today can surely taken lessons from the man. BTW, if you've never seen The Party give it try, I think it's one of his best (if not the best) movie.

Ya know strat,this may make me sound like a real geezer talking about the golden age of film but movies like that are not made anymore,its a shame too ,it just seems to me that modern movies rely heavily on big explosions,computer graphics,stunts & sex instead of the story line.

I hope you're refering to the original with Frank Sinatra. That was a fantastic movie.

Peter Sellers has been in alot of my favorite comedys. another classic is "The Party"

I actually have it in DVD, it took a while to find. One of my all time favorite movies, Sellers' acting was in rare form, perhaps his best. Dr. Strangelove being my second.

That's such a great movie! Too many people in my generation won't get to experience that film.

I'd also add to the list Twelve Angry Menand Inherit the Wind.

Every so often i get an email fowarded from him but no speaky in quite a while,im sure he's doin fine though,riding the rails somewhere.

Yeah, it was remade a few years ago starring Denzel Washington. I never saw it personally but had heard it was ok~ish at best. It kind of fizzled out, IIRC.

He was also in Blazing Saddles, another great classic movie. Stupid beyond all belief and about as far from politically correct as you can get, but extremely funny. Now there's a movie I doubt anyone will ever be able to remake, I don't think it'd be possible in todays PC climate to pull it off.
