What is the best sub under $500

The only reason you can't post links to Parts Express is because they contain the word $ex. (part-S EX-press) The filter here shuts that down.
Yes, the Titanic Kits are a great value. My 15" is a monster and fills our 24 by 26 foot room with ease. It shakes any dishes left behind in the sink. There may be other kits out there that are better, but I don't know of them. Only heard rumours.

You are mistaken, and this has been extensively covered. It is blocked by the AH admins.

We need to make a huge sign and put this up somewhere, and just as well we need another huge sign that tells people how to connect two subs to one receiver. LOL:D

The HSU, the PE, and the SVS are all outstanding subs. Decide if you want it for music first, then movies, or vice versa. SVS for movies, HSU for music, and PE for high output and a mix of movies and music.

PE makes a nice sealed 15" entry level unit for under $300. It's model 300-770 and may be a perfect fit your your system. I don't think you can beat it for the price.

Where do you get the impression that HSU subs are not good enough for movies?

My god! The MISSinformation is unbelievable.
Or that SVS aren't good for music? :) He isn't saying they aren't good with the both, to the best of my knowledge, just that he has a preference for each in each situation.

So sorry. I had once saw a thread saying that it was the S.E.X. thing. I guess I didn't read it to the end.

He meant HSU is better geared for music, and SVS has better performance for movies. Not to say they perform poorly with different tasks, just to state his feelings on how they work with given application.:)

To hook up a Sub Out line to the PE 300-770, would you get a splitter and hook it up to the two Low Level inputs on the back of the sub and turn the crossover all of the way up??

Yes, just as you can with any sub that has R&L inputs. It gets summed again anyway, but some sub amps benefit from the additional input voltage.

Sorry for not commenting on the sub issue. The P.E. block is, according to Audioholics staff, because they were using these forums to advertise themselves for free, posing as regular members. If this is true, I don't see anything wrong with the block.

Keep rolling those eyes instead of reading...I'm a bit late, but he never said that the HSU is 'not good enough' for movies. My question to you is, where did you get the impression that's what he said?

What I meant to say is, HSU sucks for movies, and SVS sucks for music. LOL. JK. One brand gears themselves for quality output, and one for extension and spl. It just so happens that both overlap and make great music and movie subs. Fanboys can argue all they want. Just go to AVS and link on "Official Craigsub Rankings Thread" in the subwoofer forum. HSU has some great 20% off deals on their site right now, and SVS has a few B stock units going for cheap. Check 'em out.

How dare you! HSU is just fine for movies, you are missinformational!

Just playin':D
