Hi,

Although I remember searching for them back in 2005 but couldnt find one. This thread started few months later but I discovered it few days back only. So sharing this excellent discovery with you guys.

This thread has 1769 posts already and 59 pages to go through, so if you want to know in Quick steps, read below:

- It has got 21 Demo DVD collection from various known surround movie clips.
- All Disc are available via a Vine tree(mail post), FTP download and a private torrent tracker. Most of them ship it for free, its like a chain shipping.
- All Discs have Menus for navigation(except one with DTS clips), Excellent DVD covers and Disc art.

- For FTP access you need to send a PM to Swithey, but use it only if you have a very fast bandwidth (256 Kbps or above)
- For Vine you need to add your name to the tree there.
- For private torrent, you need to goto this site and register.

To know about the contents of the various Demo Disc open this link.

Please remember there is no charge on this service or the Demo Discs, as these are custom made Demo discs, so please distribute freely once you make a copy.

Hope this helps.

appreciate it, probably now there will be ;)

Alternatively, the FTP is really fast, if you have a fast connection. I get 100-150 KB/s on it.

Thanks for the info. How do you get them to mail them to you? My computer sucks and I don't have a DVD burner.

I actually just downloaded most of the demos over the last few weeks, and wow, what a neat collection of stuff! I figured I would pull off some of my favorite clips from each, and make a DVD of my own. I was able to get both DD and DTS clips, and also ripped a DVD or two of my own and put it on there. I am trying to get it set up so that when I go to buy a subwoofer, (hopefully in a few weeks now!) I will have some clips that will really work it out. Also, when friends come by and want to check out my system, I can just pull one single disc to show off with, rather than trying to find a clip on all my DVD's. So far so good, not quite finished with it yet, but it is looking good so far!

You beat me to it .I already suggested this to swithey, but am still in the process of downloading the discs.

It could be Best of the Demo collection disc 1-10, 10-20 etc depending on the number of clips you find good enough.

Do share your compilation with us and upload it on the FTP.

Well, it's a pretty big bunch of clips, it will be on a dual layer disc when I am done, though I have used DVD shrink to put it onto a DVD+RW for testing. I am having some problems with the software I am using to create it, as I have not used this software before, it is all new to me, but it was the only one I could find that would allow me to put both DTS and DD on the same disc, along with DD Stereo, DD 4.1, and 5.1 on the same VTS. The menus for some reason don't always jump to the menu that you tell it to, and the up and down or side arrow keys don't always select the next clip but will skip over it. Yet on the computer, with the mouse, it will select it fine. It's very odd... So if I can ever get it perfected, then yeah, maybe I will think about getting it put up, but for now, it's still a work in progress. We'll see about it.

Which authoring tool are you using, probbaly others can help.

Would it be possible for you to split it into 2 DVD's, so that it will then be easier to share with others!!!

saurabh,
Well, I was finally able to get it to work. I was using the 30 day trial of DVD-Lab Pro 2. It does look pretty good. But I thought about this, and almost everything on this disc is already available on the other discs, and the things I have added are my own personal stuff that I really should not and do not want to really distribute, so I have pretty much decided not to go ahead and distribute this. Separating it into two DVD's at this point would mean a lot more work, and I have already spent weeks on this project (my wife is getting sick of me being on the computer all night after work until 1:30 am!) So having it almost at 8 gb, the ISO would just take FOREVER to upload or even to download, since it took me several days just to download a few of the 4 gb iso's.
Also, I have used several of the "official" logos on it as well, like the Dolby Digital, DTS, THX, and I don't want to be sued for possibly using them illegally. For personal use like this just to show off my own personal home theater, I think should be ok, but distributing it, even for free, I just don't want to take that chance. Sorry guys. :(

If I get a hold of the disk I will place them on limewire. I have a fast cable modem. The more people that post them, the faster the download

Donwload via FTP, over a 100+ kbps connection it takes 8-12 hrs each disc(1 night- 1 disc).

Ok, I'm totally new to burning DVD's. I just bought a new computer so I can give it a shot. I signed up the the Torrent site, but I don't see how I'm supposed to download the files. Can someone explain to me how it works?

For downloading the torrent version, you need to get a torrent client like utorrent. For FTP download get a FTP client like SmartFTP.

Download bittorent/utorrent. Go to the torrent site and click on the "download" thingy (it may be the file name or whatever). The torrent client (bittorent/utorrent) will automatically start once you click on the "download" the file thing.
