How big of a difference would one of these make?

Ok guys & gals,

I want to just keep it to the point of the question if possible. I have a chance to buy for a great price a Def Tech Supercube Reference. Don't start preaching about there questionable spec advertising etc, I know about that already. What my real question is the following. How much more impressive / better sounding would this Def Tech make over my current Velodyne DLS-3750R. I have heard the supercube 1 and for what it is and it's size I was impressed. Also the other reason to keep it on point is I already know about all of the other SVS, HSU, Axiom, Velodyne, Rocket, Outlaw, etc. I have a specific space requirement and the price is right (sorry I can't divulge too much information on that before you ask) so I can get it for less than a lot of the comparable subs. My main question is would this be a night and day difference, as my current sub is ok, not great but ok. I am looking at moving sometime this year into a larger single family home and I know my current sub will not do. Any help and opinions would be greatly appreciated, especially from any of you with specific expierience with this sub in particular.

It would be a very big improvement over your existing sub IMHO. I was really impressed with the Super Cubes last I demo'd them. They are outstanding for music, and very good for movies in the right sized room. If you are getting a screaming deal, jump on it. The worst that could happen is that you sell it for your cost here and break even, needing to go with something larger if your next A/V room is huge.

Nothing wrong with that Velodyne, I own the same one and just upgraded to a SVS 20-39PC+. But if the def tech gives you more output and better sound, and you are getting a good deal on it, I see no reason why you shouldn't upgrade.

Cave in and go for it, you will be happy you did. The reference does a really good job with music, but it truly shines for movies. I use two in my system so PM me if you need further nudging.

Thanks guys

Thanks for the replies guys and sorry for the late return, between traveling and having to get a new cell phone, and attending to my Son today (He will be 1 year old tomorrow, man that time has flown by) I was not able to come back in here till now. I will let you guys know, I am really not terribly unhappy with my current sub, but I know I could do better especially with music. Anybody ever heard one of the Supercube References? Seems like NONE of the dealers here in south to central Florida have them, a lot of them have the Supercube 1's but not the references, bummer!!!!!!

What room locations did you find best and what have you tried? I know every room is different but I am interested since I also have 2 Super Cube Reference subs. They are not easy to move and almost impossible to move when spiked so I am looking for the best and worst considerations you found when setting up yours.
