Wonder if they'll be clearing out stock for lower prices.

Damn, I wish I bought some M&K so they could stay afloat. I always respected their stuff, but respect doesn't pay the bills.

Too bad, they made great speakers and I've been a fan since my college days working at a local hifi shop that carried them.

I just hope that the service shop will still be able to repair my sub if they can't get the schematic from M&K. Figures that I would finally decide to take it in when M&K closes shop. I waited almost a half a year to take it in and see what happens. I alone have doomed their company.

Come to think of I did take it in on tuesday of last week, eeww! I am a horrible, horrible hex.:D

i am still not clear if that means the company as a whole is closing or if they are simply closing the factory and moving production overseas......

the web page clearly states the factory is closing. it does not expressly state that the company is ceasing to exist. i could be wrong, but it seems that the company might still be in existence, with production being moved elsewhere.

I hope they are just changing their operation, maybe it is a big surprise.:D But I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Well their online store has the same cryptic message about closing its doors. I say it's kaput; they don't even seem to be clearing out their own stock. Sad.

There goes my dream of owning the S-150's. Guess i'll have to resort to used now if anyone will part with them :(

The rumor I got from a factory rep was that M&K is closed. Ken Kreisel may be looking to do something still in the audio world and what that is isn't fully clear. Also, how that relates to the current M&K products is also unclear.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Jack

Side note: I just uprgraded my fronts to S150's right before this happened. I may be selling my lcr851's and lcr650's in the near future. PM me if any one is interested.

I just bought a v75 sub from them at a great price about two weeks ago. Unfortunately two of the pins that hold on the grille got broken in shipping. M&K said they'd send replacement parts...and then, radio silence. Now I know why.

After seeing the notice about the closure, I emailed Kreisel--no response so far:(

I may not have owned any of there acclaimed sub bass speakers but I’ve seen and heard a fair few at the local Hi-Fi shop in Bournemouth. I guess now the rarity of the loudspeakers and subs will either increase or customers will be buying them up like hot cakes.

They already were hard to come by. I know I am not letting my MX-100 go once it is fixed. You can count on me keeping a piece of M&K history.:)
