Who needs a white van now that ebay has such an audience?

Here is there site, they make outrageous claims about their one speaker!
http://www.blueridgesoundeng.com/
In the frequency response graphs they have on the site, I would like to know what the "speaker that sells for between $29,995 and $34,000 depending on finish" is. it has a FR of +/- 5dB :)eek: ), whereas their HR-1 is almost flat (+/- what looks to be 1dB or less), so it would seem to be more of a studio monitor than a "audiophile loudspeaker" - that is, IF those graphs aren’t total garbage.

I'd be glad to listen to one at home, for free. :p

What is the defining difference between monitor and speaker? Thanks.
Studio monitors are supposed to produce close to flat frequency responce, where as many home audio speakers have more uneven responce.

"In addition, we're not afraid to venture into the realm of the unknown and design something new instead
of following the pack with a generic set of components. The use of computer generated crossovers is
very widespread, and so are the peaks and dips in most frequency response graphs. We don't feel the
need to stick to tried and true designs. We started off by modifying common designs, now we have our
own innovative crossover slopes and circuitry design that bear little resemblance to the standards of the
industry. We keep that circuitry as simple as is possible. There are crossovers in some very expensive
loudspeakers that have upwards of 40-50 components (capacitors, coils, resistors, etc) choking down
the input signal. Our HR-1 uses precisely seven. We are able to use so few components through
innovative use of those components, rather than by following the herd."

Oh, cool so the electrical path won't be hindered by those pesky capacitors and resistors that help to even out the sound, great.:D

"The 8" woofer has a massive, heavy
magnet that exacts total control on the cone. Which, by the way, is capable of an unheard-of-even-
in-larger-woofers 16mm excursion! We have two 18" subs (we are sound nuts, we admit it!) built
under a stairway in the demo room and I can assure you, as good as these subs are, they would
be completely destroyed by a 16mm excursion!"

Ok, yes they defy the laws of physics.

They were saying that the 18inch subs would be destroyed if they exerted 16mm.

Lets see...

Tweeter: HiVi TN28 Lists for about $15

Mids: HiVi probably the B4N Lists for about $15

Woofer: Who knows, but probably about $10 to 20

Cost of drivers: about $50

Cost of x-over parts: about $10-$20

Cost of wood: about $40

Stain: $10

Total: About $120

You get the idea.

Strange...the Dayton Titantic MkIII has 20.5mm, and the HiVi SP10 has 15.5 and that is a 10" woofer.

I guess they were, but it still sounds stupid. It seemed to me that they were trying to imply the 8" woofer on the side of that crap speaker would destroy 18" woofers. I really wish they had a forum at that site, I would join it just like I joined the Cadence Forum.:D

I believe that HiVi SP10 is a copy or is the original Sunfire True subwoofer driver. I used to have a Sunfire True sub (sucked) and I had taken it apart for some reason or other and the woofer inside of it looks just like that one. The magnet structure is most impressive.

It is strange the Titanic would have more excursion, because I have seen the travel on those Sunfire True subs, it is incredible.

Well my point was that they were saying that "18 inch subs would be destroyed if they exerted 16mm" and I was trying to say that smaller subs can and do have greater xmax than 16mm. ;)
