Hi all, trying to get this new receiver to run the auto setup program and nothing happens when i start it. No sound, no hiss, nothing. I believe its supposed to play a loud noise in each speaker as it calibrates itself from the microphone supplied.
Everything is hooked up properly, I've been listening to movies and such testing it out.
The second issue I am having is that I cannot get audio to play through my TV speakers from the HD STB. I have the box hooked up by component and optical in.
The DVD is connected by HDMI, and I only have HDMI out to the TV from the receiver. The DVD can play through the TV speakers, But I cannot get the STB to play through the optical IN to the HDMI out.

DVD -----> HDMI ----> Receiver
STB ------> COMP/OPT.---> Receiver

Receiver -------> HDMI----->TV

Thanks for the help :)

re: auto eq. Note than when you have the "start auto eq" high lighted, you start the process by pushing on the left or right button the the remote (I forget which) instead of the center button. At least that is the way it works on my 3806. It is counter intuitive. Just a thought.

Trouble with wireless remote speakers

I have a Denon AVR-887 running with a cable box, Samsung Plasma, Artisan speakers, a subw, and rear speakers in the ceiling. Trouble is we want to run 4 RCA WSP155 wireless speakers so as to distribute music throughout the house for a party. The RCA wireless speakers are powered so that may be part of the problem. Seems that we just can't get the receiver to properly recognize the wireless sending unit to run the speakers.

Using "speaker out" does not produce acceptable sound and I now know that they are amplified. My wife was told by someone who is supposed to know that we have to plug in these wireless speakers into a simple "line-out" jack. Nothing happens. Can any of you help? I am afraid that I am firmly in over my head.

Thanks,

Herb

Did you get this working? You probably figured it out by now, but you have to assign the component input to the source in the video setup menu. Likewise, set up the optical input in the audio menu. Then you have to assign a digital conversion to the source to output the component input over HDMI.

Can you describe in more detail what you have done? Are you using the multi channel outputs on the 887? That should provide a line level signal to the transmitter. Once that is done, it should be a simple matter of ensuring that the wireless system is hooked up properly.
