LOL common sense and audiophile world haven't been aligned for a while. Room/placement will make a lot more difference than electronics/wire generally, let alone the speakers themselves. Your ears may show the way to a preference, but not particularly to reference. The other forum ASR? Meh on Bryston myself, but haven't needed a new amp in quite a while nor am I Canadian, but Buckeye with Hypex modules would probably be up next if I were shopping. My last several subs have been diy, tho.

I've shuffled the speakers around a bit more, and I agree. Room placement is major a factor. I'm close if not there to being fully dialed in.

Bryston measures well from what I gather, and yes ASR is the only other place I look at these days. I'm not Canadian either. I actually like BenchMark a lot too but don't have their equipment.

Bryston is now unfortunately priced a lot higher than it was when I first bought my gear but they are still a great company and they seem to rely on low distortion and good measurements. My trade in and up incentive is really hard to beat. My preamp trade in was probably better than what I could have sold it for on any Ebay site or the like. I don't want the headache of listing and selling anything. This is mostly a comfort upgrade based on aging equipment and the familiar enjoyment of my current system. I do like Buckeye and some of the other companies with similar offerings.

As for other audio forums, I can't really look at the other audio sites.

The chatter that goes on about certain things like cables and cable lifters, to me borders on insanity. Like I said I'm no expert nor am I in a position to put up objective, measurable facts to offset they're arguments, but I just can't relate to the ideas that some think make a huge difference in a system.

When I ordered my Blue Jeans cables, I called the company and whoever I spoke to stated flat out that cables make the least amount of difference in a system compared the other parts of the puzzle.

I can't tell any difference between my previous Transparent MusicWave Plus cables and the new Blue Jean cables I just bought. The thinner but heavier gauge B-J cables sound the same as the old ones but they are easier to conceal and there are no "network boxes" on the B-J cables.

Things are pretty good here and I think the new Perlisten S7Ts are a game change.
That said, the old NHTs were and are great but I guess after nearly 30 years updating the system to complete endgame is OK.

Wow spectacular setup , I’m sure your old speakers can be fixed if needed and used in another room today something like that would cost a lot !!! I’m still using cheap Klipsch in one room and a mismatch of brands upstairs.. I dream of getting better gear but just can’t afford it yet . I’d think upgrading my avr & tv would have More effect as my Klipsch sound fine to my ears , could spend a lot more to get an actual upgrade 1k+ per speaker…
Thinking maybe paradigm if I can ever afford them . Klipsch rp look nice too ..

to me they are amazing , but I can’t tell a difference in any of my cables and can’t afford Blue Jean cables yet . I considered Amazon basics but the 12 awg just doubled in price $$. Ouch .. so I’m using 14 awg Dayton and 18 awg of some unknown brand I got free with used stuff .

Says they start out at 16k a pair , this review says up to 40k. So I assume they are one of the world’s best period . I saw one edition was 60k

I also incorporated a streamer into my system because in the car and at work, I pretty much listen to streamed. The car doesn't have a CD player, so it is XM or phone. I find a lot of new, (new to me) fresh music by listening to channels of things I like on Amazon. So then I can expand my own playlists. My playlists are very different from when I am at home with a good listening session, where I will put on an album or two from one artist and listen through.

Yeah experimentation with placement is the best start. Maybe even do some measurements to help out.

Bryston (and Benchmark) is good stuff, just costs more than I want to pay plus am more into multich setups than 2ch these days. Lots of good reasonably priced amps out there. I feel ya on the selling of gear, haven't done that at all (but have given some gear to a few people). Also why I have two 7.4 setups and two 5.2 setups as well as a 2ch setup, with some of my old 2ch only gear, which is the least used.

I'm strictly 2 channel but we will watch movies over the system. I have a Samsung sound bar coming for two of the TVs, actually maybe for all of them to add a little enhancement.

I totally agree with the "expensive" view regarding the Bryston gear. The new amps replacing my current Bryston amps will be the end of it.

They are really high quality but the newer D stuff is fantastic. Buckeye seems to be a wonderful company.

As I stated earlier, the trade-in and up incentive is worth a few extra $$ on my end as I've been very happy with their equipment. They were originally a professional studio audio based company. Before that they have an even more interesting beginning but that is another subject worth a read. The fact that "audiophiles" poo poo Bryston and consider their gear too "analytical" says volumes to me.

I recently read that my new Blue Jeans cables are considered "entry level" by the so called experts which made me laugh. If I asked them Blue Jeans VS Transparent you'd know the answer.

I have no idea what those silly "network boxes" did for the Transparent cables but I can tell you that moving to the Blue Jeans was just a better move. Aesthetically and perhaps they improve something. I think those boxes maybe created a bottleneck. Without measurements I don't know, but a straight, quality copper wire that is 10 gauge is certainly all I need.

It sounds like you have a a few great setups.

I have one but it's a banger and I'm assuming it measures out quite well. Too expensive? Perhaps, but at least there isn't any voodoo involved.

This is the last system I'll own and so far with the new Perlisten S7Ts, I'm really enjoying it.
They are the best speakers I've ever heard anywhere ever. I'm a fortunate person to have them and I'm quite thankful that I can enjoy something I've loved since I was a young lad.

I’m not worried about the sound bars.
It’s a minor enhancement but I get what you’re saying.

More importantly the cable crap is so ridiculous.
I guess if you want to spend money on something that has ZERO measurable effect, go ahead.
The same thing could be said about what I have spent but then there’s the whole measurable argument.

The reviews here and videos Gene has posted suggest the speakers I recently bought are pretty special.

Actually I would have passed if the reviews here said otherwise.

I loved my NHTs and kept them but the Perlisten speakers are on another level.

The KEF Blades are another heavy hitter.
I’m sticking with passive speakers at this point in life but I know there are some other great options.

I’d love to see some of your setups.
