I wanted to really love this flick. It started out really strong and the music was awesome. However the story was lost once the vampire scenes came into play. Instead of weaving vampires into the story and using it to heighten the story, it became the story.

The really weird thing I noticed that the aspect ratio changes back and forth in the production.

I thought the writing was pure crap. :D

My daughter and I have argued about this a few times. :D

I love the vampire movie genre, so I would love to love any vampire movie. But I think this movie is just crap.

There were things to like about it... but really, to me it felt very much like a new version of From Dusk Til Dawn.

Starts out as one thing that is somewhat compelling and then just takes a radical vampires and chaos turn. Slightly less B horror/comedic though this time around.

I liked it, but it was not an Oscar for those top categories in my book. Agree, it is pretty much From Dusk Til Dawn.

As a die hard blues person, I found the vampires utter crap and ruined a great movie. ;)

We're all friends here.
You can say Blues Man.

:p

Now I'm gonna have to watch it.
I thought it was impossible to wreck a vampire movie.
Let alone one with good tunes.

I rarely like vampire flicks. Sort of a stupid genre, like zombies. I suppose this might be one of the better ones, but haven't given it a watch.

Near Dark? The Lost Boys? There are others to be sure but my brain isn't fully engaged yet. I loved those movies.

I agree about zombies. That thing HBO had was absolutely killing me with the gore which I could avoid but the audio ... I mean the sound of eating brains, f^%&, it was inescapable. SWMBO watched it. That and the biker one. And anything with Ron Pearlman. He's too ugly to look at. That's my short list of shows not to watch. You've got me going on a mini rant. I need more coffee.

I love Lost Boys. Santa Carla in the film is Santa Cruz; local for us.

Can't say I've even heard of Near Dark. I did see The Lost Boys a long time ago....I didn't know it was a vampire thing, tho.

Right?

That's what I thought before watching this Sinners movie.

Well, the very latest "Dracula A Love Tale 2025" movie was also pure crap. Luc Besson took Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula, basically copied it, and totally F**ed it up. :D

I mean how do you copy something and still screw it up?

He could have just made everything exactly the same as Bram Stoker's Dracula, except used all new actors and the new 8K digital cameras, and it could be better than the original because PQ would be 100% better than the old analog 35mm film.

The long teeth biting people to drink their blood should have given it away. Plus their logo of party all night, sleep all day, live forever hinted at the nature of the film.

Near Dark was an instant classic with Bill Paxton. "I hate it when they ain't been shaved". That just might be the film to change your mind about the genre.

I still haven't watched it.

I think I've seen the love story one. Meh ... that girl should have come with a giant forehead alert. I might have to give it another go. I'm usually just passing time instead of critically viewing the films I watch. Wasn't it like Ricci's daughter in the lead role? Gotta go over that again.

I don't think we should be "critically" viewing or listening to anything in his hobby. :D

Critical stuffs are for work. :D

It's for leisure/enjoyment, not work. :D

Poor choice of words but if I want to talk about a film I pay more attention. It's at work that my mind really wanders because it's labor. My mind goes to Fiji.

Give me the "Underworld," series for plots, acting, and sound.
Absolutely. I love every single Underworld movie. They seem to get even better and better to me. I can’t believe people gave “Blood Wars” only 5.8 stars out of 10 stars on iMDB. Idiots don’t know what they are talking about. I gave every Underworld movie a 10/10. :D
