How close are we to WWIII?

Yes, I get all that. But, @highfigh stated that they were laying mines further from shore, although I see no indication of that.

And yes, while Iran is violating international laws by laying these mines, it's just one example of a multitude of international laws being violated during this conflict, by both sides.
I agree. Look at what the republican clusterfkuc is doing to Cuba with a threatened take over. Starving out an island country just because they are communist and Trump eases tarrifs on Russia so Putin gets more money to fight Ukraine. The Trump regime is a complete clusterfkuc and imcompetant to boot.

I know about AIS and the practice of turning it off, but with our surveillance flights, it's easy enough to see who's where. We have drones, too- rules cover their being shot down. We also have ships with incredibly good optical capabilities, so they can be used to identify shipping. I meant that our satellites can be used for detecting their position- identity can be done from a closer location.
The sea is one Hell of a big place!

But Cuba does have allies who could help.

You're missing the point by a country mile with that question, aren't you?
Have you seen comments from Cubans and Cuban exiles? It's only a couple of examples, but have you considered their existence vs a life of freedom (which they don't have)?

From the link- "I'm really excited to see that we'll finally see a free Cuba in my lifetime," said Cuban American Jose Torrenete.

"I think there is a lot of hope and change for Cuba," said Cuban American Vivian Herrera."

"Beneath the surface of stoic resilience, subtle cracks are beginning to show. Albeit timidly, some Cubans point to internal governance failures.

“If I told you what I really think, I’d be arrested,” says a tour guide who told us he would prefer to remain anonymous. A trained engineer, he never managed to achieve the prosperity promised by the government’s provision of free education for all Cubans.

Like many young people, his children emigrated to Spain and, for him, Cuba’s current situation feels increasingly unsustainable. “Nothing works,” he says. “There are no medicines, no supplies, and the repression is getting worse.”

Another example of USA meddling into the affairs of another country. Since the Cuban missile crisis, there has been no or next to nothing dialogue between the US and Cuba to make Cuba a better place. Now the US is resorting to tactics to cause the country to fail. What a f'in farce in the namesake of freedom. Failed in Iran, and Afghanistan, and maybe Iran again. I wish they would just stop.

Sounds good, but it depends upon our oil reserves and if we're bringing boots on the ground.

How much resistance to US measures to improve Cuba, in your opinion, was due to Castro? If they want us to help, I think they might be able to ask. They allowed Russia/USSR to put missiles 90 miles from US shore- until the Castros left power, I seriously doubt any attempts would have been successful- it would have meant Castro's admission that his leadership failed.

I would like for the US to stop being involved in the affairs of other countries, but Iran needed to change into something the Iranian people want, not what the Ayatollah told them they want and need. Too bad the surrounding countries don't give a rat's ass about it and the ones who do have been aligned with that regime. They attacked US bases in countries that did nothing but allow us to put bases there- they shouldn't attack unless they had been attacked by those countries. OTOH, I doubt the US would do nothing if Russia, China or NK were to move into Mexico or other Central American countries, nor should it.

This shyte all needs to stop.

Now Trump and his clusterfkuc leadership is threatening NATO members that they need help protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz or else. I wish NATO would give Trump the collective middle finger. Israel and the US started this war. Its their business, not NATO 'S

Except that the US accidently took out the leadership that Trump wanted in after removing one crackpot. The son of the crackpot is 1000x times worse and just made it worse for the Iranian people and for the US. The stupidity of Trump and the current republican leadership is firmly in the realm of unbelieveable. Perhaps Darwin can save the US.

Unfortunately, the Darwin effect is time consuming, maybe beyond grandkids lives. ;)

Now Trump wants other countries to come in and help protect the Straight of Hormuz. Apparently threatening NATO countries if they don't help. Think on that: Israel and the US started it, but you have to help even though we started it. I hope for everyone's sake he doesn't push this.

I think it says how shallow and cowardly a person Trump is. We'll get the Kurds for some ground support. Other nations have to help and die to open the Straight so the US death count is lowered. A war Israel and the US started.

In an audio I just heard Trump said You could have the view this war was a mistake. In addition, he said sometimes America does things out of habit. Boy sure makes me feel confident.
