It is always a day or two later when you really feel it. Bringing the BMRs up 3 flights of stairs wasn't fun either. A day later, my hip hurt. The boxes are large and awkward to carry, so I was in a weird position to carry them and they're heavy. The center is even heavier, but there's only one lol.

Hot tub, heating pad, advil, etc... I use a Theragun, that actually helps a lot.

I’ve had to free lift the bass cabinets of the Phil 3s many times. Not fun, but doable.

Massage afterwards is welcome.

I'm not gaming for this, but I will simply say that my experience with the version I have is that Welcome to the Machine left me floored. Big fan of the album as a whole. WYWH as a song is beautiful but a little trite. Have a Cigar is great... Shine On...

But when I hear all the parts of Welcome to the Machine whirring about in 5.1, I was hypnotized. Easily one of the most stunning things that I've heard. It seems such a natural vehicle for remixing as it was.

I'll use it as motivation to actually hook up the Atmos in the Atmos capable Denon AVR-X7200WA that Craig sold me a couple of years ago. Like I need some sort of obligation to do that work in a somewhat timely manner.

I don't think I have that album. It was on my Amazon wish list but I never pulled the trigger however a member here named Walter (I forget his user name) gave me Floyd's Pulse album on vinyl years ago and that tune is on it. I don't know if you remember him but Walter was a big fan of Source Speakers and big amplifiers. The kind of amps that would trip the breaker. He actually hooked me up with the AR turntable that I use as well.

Another good reason to send that recording my way is that I got laid off before Christmas so you can go right ahead and feel sorry for me. My pride can take it. And tomorrow is my birthday (for real). I mean, how could you not send it to me?

I'm like the AH version of Oliver Twist!

EDIT: Oh hell, I just realized I would need to buy a Atmos capable Blu-ray player for that. Isn't there some Sony or Panny unit on the market in the $300 price range that TLS and Verdinut often recommend? All I have currently is the Oppo I bought off you years back. I almost want to say TIA. Yeah, I'm like that. Even if someone else gets it I still could use a that recommendation for a good universal player that's not in the thousands.

It has improved a lot since that post. I don't notice it much at all now, which is a relief. Like most people, when I was young, I didn't give much thought to the consequences of a seemingly minor injury. It was like, "Yeah...that's gonna leave a mark, but it'll get better". But, ever since breaking my wrist six years ago, I've been more cognizant of the possible long term ramifications. It took a good three years before I could put much stress on my wrist without major pain. Something as simple as hammering a small nail was excruciating. Now, while my wrist may look a bit wonky, it's as strong as ever. But, whenever I hurt myself, I wonder what it's going to cost me.

Have you heard about these things called fleshlights? That small nail wouldn't need hardly any hammering at all if I understand it correctly. I'm just concerned about your wrist. Trying to be helpful ... but not that helpful.

This should go to Alex for his Bday(happy birthday Alex!). But have to say, I was born in ‘74 so this was well before my time. However, as RynoDino said, welcome to the machine is absolutely epic. It captures such tension and is layers and layers of texture. I still get hit by the melancholy of the lo-fi 12 string intro of WYWH, and the song is one of my favorite audio/emotional journeys.
I can’t count how many times I’ve listened to the wall front to back, or momentary lapse as they also have different vibes and connections and bring me to different places. WYWH just hits different and I love it. This new version must be absolutely over the top.

But when I got to thinking about it I realized the memory was somehow skewed with carrying other speakers out of Swerd's house. I definitely handled them in Dennis' house. I wonder how much less reliable my memory is going to become going forward. Anyway at the time it was no big deal. That was 13 years ago. Nowadays the mere thought makes my pussy hurt.

Ha!Ha! I don't have to Google it. I found out what it was a few years ago, when my neighbour found one in the ditch by his house! We live in a secluded older part of town with lots of mature trees, which lends itself to being somewhat private. People park there sometimes to - we thought - smoke some pot. We left it there because, well, who'd wanna touch it?

It eventually disappeared, so maybe the original owner came back for it. Or, since the area is popular with dog walkers, someone's pooch picked it up. Can you imagine? Fido comes crawling out of the ditch with a pocket pu$$y in its yap? "Whatcha got there boy? Bring it to daddy..."

Now that I've listened to that properly it did remind me of some stuff from around 1986 IIRC. I friend at the time made CD's as a job. He had a collection that included Floyd's Collection of Great Dance Songs on which WYWH is one of the tracks. Well that year I was headed to Europe to attend a wedding in the old country and to bum around Vienna and Munich for about a month. I got my friend to record some CD's to cassette for me to play on the Koss walkman he had sold me. The Koss had stupid loud playback.

So off to Europe I go. Former Yugoslavia, the sh!thole that it was was impossible to score drugs in. Vienna wasn't much better due to all the family but Munich was different. Some American army brats that I met at a restaurant knew a roadie at a Brian Adams concert that had hash. They were nice enough to just help a traveler out. My crew couldn't speak English and the Americans couldn't speak Cro but off we went to score this hash. It was good too. I only had a couple of days but I wasn't able to smoke all of it before having to get on a train to Vienna. I had to throw the remainder away! My Cro friends didn't smoke and I had read Midnight Express so there was no way I was taking any chances crossing any borders.

I think it might have been after I got back to Toronto that somebody hooked me up with tickets to see Floyd in concert. Guess what. They had drugs there too! Seriously, I was in the nose bleed seats when I smelled that smell. I had turned around to see where it was coming from to find some stranger with an outstretched arm offering me the dube. My introduction to Floyd was solid and it was a great time in my life. I rode motorcycles all over the continent, took European vacations, had long hair and f^%&ed bitches.

Sitting here giving that tune a proper listen brought all that back. I can never explain to normal people what music does for me. But here? I know there are others who get taken away by it too. Anyway, that's my play for John's disc. nite nite

Well, besides the fact that it was your birthday and all, this is EXACTLY the kind of great memory I was looking for I'll get your details and it will be coming your way. There are a ton of mixes on there, including the 1975 quad mix, so it should work on the gear you have; sans Atmos. Hopefully it will still be incentive to get going on that

Getting positive feedback on the story makes me at least just as happy as getting a freebee Floyd album. I would actually be happier about the positive feedback but the promise of Atmos on the disc ties into something that doesn't exist yet so there's something weird that happens in my head. Very recently I figured out that I very likely have ADHD so I've sort of been paying attention to what it is that goes on in my noggin and how that particular group of mental patients operate on a motivational level.

You were pretty specific on what you were after for the disc but it wasn't until I sat down and listened to it "properly" that the memory of my introduction to the tune itself came flooding back. This is funny: can you imagine that I actually had a tailor ? It was during that period. Like I'm a drywaller, rough around the edges, drank like a fish, tried every drug I could and indulged in general Eastern European debauchery but yeah, I had a tailor. Nothing serious, just a few pairs of pants and suit but he was a tailor and I was a customer.

That's how the idea came to me. Music tends to hold a lot of memories for me. A song, a band, album, they can take you right to that time or even a specific moment. There's some rolling video on while the album plays and there's a shot with 70's backstage passes stuck all over their gear, and I was thinking "what kind of great stories are there in those passes?". I figured someone here might have something interesting about a song on the album or maybe even saw them and had a story about a show. You pretty much hit on all of that
