Faster Android Phone?

Today people and government bodies as well think that everybody has a cell phone. A lot of seniors know nothing about cell phones, or don't use them. Also, some don't even know the existence of sex toys.

The situation with sex is that if you don't use it, you lose it. I read that in the Canadian Medical Post magazine from an article written by a physician, close to 60 years ago. That paper still exists.
LOL I don't use my phone as a sex toy :) I don't "use" my cell phone like younger folks might, where it's more like connected by a pseudo umbilical cord :)

You wasted no time :) but I would have recommended Google Pixel as well. I'm on my second Pixel (8) and bought them for my wife and son as well (7). I have a fair number of apps installed and do some mobile gaming as well and have not experienced any issues.

One thing people confuse is storage RAM and system memory. RAM is the total storage on the device and is important for how many files you want to store. That will include apps, audio, video and documents. If you're not a gamer, 64GB can be enough. If you play games and shoot video, 64GB would likely not be enough. I have 100GB used out of 128GB available. As they say in computing, you can never have too much memory.

System RAM is how much is reserved to run the OS and your apps. Less expensive phones will have lower amounts of system RAM and this is when you can get into trouble having too many apps installed or using an app that has high memory requirements. 4GB would be typical for a budget phone and higher end models can have 12GB to 16GB. My Pixel 8 has 8GB.

The 9a has similar spec to the 8 (8GB system RAM and 128 or 256GB storage) but uses the newer Tensor G4 processor. I think the 9a should fill your needs fine.

Where is this RAM displayed on a phone?

I just bought a new 128 gb Google Pixel 9a. @TLS Guy , what amount of RAM do you figure I am dealing with on my Samsung A12 with 32 gb of memory? Just a heinous amount of software crashing, very sluggish, just a pain in the a$$. Hopefully the 9a will be a huge improvement
It's going to be minimal. The A series is not performance oriented. The S series are their performance flagships. It looks like the A12 32gb models came with either 2, 3, or 4 gigs of RAM. It is a budget model that was released in 2020, that's a relic in phone years!

Well, I'm about to write a major rant here. Here it comes:

Phone's CPU and memory, while important, are NOT what make the phone FEEL fast. It's the OS. Ask why iPhones have always been traditionally behind Android phones on memory capacity, with only recently has memory sizing increased?
For pure benchmarking of mobile CPU performance, no Android phone is faster than Apple's latest chip, especially in single-core and GPU (aka gaming) scores. The latter is looking particularly terrible for Android.
sources:
https://browser.geekbench.com/android_devices/oneplus-13 = I picked it since, in my quick search, it was reported to be the fastest Android phone.

If you could swing OnePlus 13 - I'd say go for it, but like I said, the OS matters more than pure CPU speed (or ram)
But as mentioned had mention Google's Pixel line is one I'd recommend, and not necessary to be the fastest, but to give you the FEELING of a faster phone for far longer, as it's less encumbered by 3rd party junk software (looking at you, Samsung)

P.S.: Judging CPU performance in terms of gigahertz is just plain stupid in 2025.

P.S.S: With Google potentially looking to lock down Android very soon, to create the same closest app garden that Apple got slack for so many years, I must ask, what is the reason to get an Android phone today?
(I mean, stuff like ReVanced I get, but for most users it won't matter)

/Rant over

That's been my issue with Apple, got tired of reinstalling CFW every few months for my Kid and if that is going to be the Android route, it will be frustrating as that is why I use their products. *Waiting* to see this outcome.
