Unfortunately I'm afraid it's too late.. These people are in and nothing is going to get them out.. There highly automated, and will send out
page after page at a click of a button. In some cases it's completely automated, once they have programmed to selected forums. Thinking you can somehow block there IP addresses, , is a waste of your time, It's been reported elsewhere that they have hundreds of active IP's simply waiting to be used.
It's a bit like trying to beat "Wack a Mole"
I know of one forum [the subject is unimportant ] where they shut down the site for 6 months , and when they reactivated it they where back to
where they were before the shutdown. The site no longer exists
Try loading TEMO into a search engine, The selling site is massive, https://www.SPAM.com/a
In short the ships already sailed, and nothings going to bring it back

A massive nuclear attack on China might do the trick!

My son who is head of security for LUMI, says that using Captcha would really help. Since this is getting worse, I think we should give it a try.

Small tip that may help in the interim, particularly when the same account spams every forum: click on that user name and ignore them. It doesn't stop it, but it prevents posts from that user flooding your browsing.

I am curious, as another forum I frequently visit (ServeTheHome) seems to be running the same forum software, and yet I have never seen a single SPAM spam post on it. Maybe its owner, Patrick Kennedy, could help?

Our Xenforo build is old and needs to be updated. I haven't been able to find someone to help with this so if anyone knows a Xenforo expert, please send them my way.

In the meantime, I replaced the word SPAM with Spam so hopefully that helps deter this crap.

They really went on overdrive this morning Gene! It took me a long time to get the threads onto ignore.

Seriously, I have no life.
This is approaching, if not already, a denial of service attack. I think stronger defense systems are required as otherwise it will severely interfere or even be the end of the forum. I think any and all mechanisms of defence should be considered. Recently there were three contiguous pages of the spam. There can be no commercial gain to SPAM from this, and I consider it Internet terrorism pure and simple.

I don't think it will go away, so we are going to have to implement evasive action. My hunch is we are getting it, because we are an easy target and that will have to change.
I'm a member at www.marineengines.com and they uise reCaptcha with good results. Another uses Fora.
