I have had this BD collection of 6 of the greatest war movies of all time on 6 discs for several years. But I hadn't watched any.
It contains 1: The Longest Day, 2: The Great Escape, 3: Battle of Britain, 4: Patton, 5: Tora! Tora! Tora!, 6: A Bridge Too Far

Yesterday, I watched the Longest Day, D-Day which is a 1962 black & white movie which was renewed in 1990 as a wide screen film. What amazed me was the sharpness of the picture. I recommend this collection to anyone. It features many celebrities:

Was it 35mm or 70mm film in 1962? Or they have a pristine master 35mm. How was the audio?

They must have had a pristine master because the image is really sharp to my eyes. The audio is very good with bombing dynamics as well. The Tora! Tora! Tora! film is really well transferred as well. You get 6 good films for $40. It also includes an Invasion of Normandie map and Longest Day collection cards. IMO this 2014 20th Century Fox collection is a bargain, although it might in the future be possible to get a renewed 4K version of it. Who knows?
