AV Receiver Not Passing Through 4K HDR

I recently upgraded my home theater setup and ran into an issue with my AV receiver not passing through 4K HDR properly. My TV supports 4K HDR, my streaming device and gaming console are HDR-capable & the receiver is supposed to handle it—but for some reason, I either get no signal or it defaults to 1080p. Has anyone else faced this issue?:(

I’ve already tried swapping out HDMI cables with high-speed certified ones, ensuring HDMI-CEC is off, and checking the settings on both my receiver and TV. I also updated the firmware on all devices, but the problem persists . :( I’m wondering if there’s a hidden setting I’m missing / if my AV receiver just isn’t handling HDR as advertised. Checked https://forums.audioholics.com/forums/audio/general-av-discussions.8/IoT Training guide related to this and found it quite informative.


Has anyone successfully resolved this type of issue? I’d appreciate any troubleshooting tips or workarounds.

Hard to know without knowing your equipment list. However often this is caused by those gaming units sending too high a sampling rate. So make sure your sending devices are limited to 48KHz otherwise you will have this problem. Also make sure the TV is connected to the correct output, as generally AVRs only have one 4K HDMI output.

The other issue is that the HDMI cable is too long to transmit HDMI 4K. If your cable is longer than 12' then you need an active HDMI cable and voltage inserter.

Without model numbers of each and every device in the system and information concerning their connections, it is not just hard to know what is going on, it is impossible to know.

One of the advantages of using a PC vs mobile is that I can hover my mouse over any links and see the address at the bottom of my browser. No need to click. ;)

I recently saw one post where the hidden link appeared as regular text, not underlined in blue. Clever bit of formatting. Not sure how they managed that but I didn't have time to examine the html more closely.

I did in fact click on the link. But, there are two of them and I didn't notice them being separate links and did not click on the loT Training link at first click. Tired of posting multiple times to get system details from some folks, my answer to any spammers is the same as for those actually looking for help these days. Include ALL of the system information in your first post or F#%K OFF!:)
