Greenland is only a military concern for the US, if the US abandons the NATO "musketeer oath" and abandons one of its most steadfast allies, Denmark. I'm not arguing that would not happen (because... Reality), I'm simply saying that this argument is self inflicted and thus very pointless.

The US already has an air force base on Greenland and enjoys essentially freedom of movement there. This freedom was planned to be expanded to the rest of Denmark, but I'm doubtful that will pass parliament now. There's obviously no public support to be found for this currently.

If the US simply adheres to the known world order, noone would touch Greenland. Wonderful as it is, it simply isn't worth the very difficult and sustained conflict that would follow.

This is nonsense. Greenland is, and has been, "open for business". 28 individual entities have been awarded licenses to search for and extract raw materials in Greenland. Of those, only one is a US entity.

If the US had any interest, one would assume applications would exist and it would not require/excuse an invasion.

Same for real estate development.

Invade it, to be blunt.

If you zoom out and consider Panama and Gaza also, I believe the sole reason at play here is Trumps desire for his legacy to be the first president in "almost a century " as he would likely phrase it, to add territory to the United States.

I believe Canada was briefly at play/mentioned before the inauguration too. But I'm sure even Trump understands that picking a fight with someone landlocked with the US carries the inherent risks that are very difficult to explain or justify.
Maybe we should invade Russia.

Trump and Vance Shattered Europe’s Illusions About America - The Atlantic
The illusion needed to be broken. IMO is it a good thing not bad thing. Now France is talking about replacing US nuclear weapons with their own for Europe's defense. Obama had suggested Europe take on more responsibility for their own defense. Nothing happened. Then typical like Obama he never raised the point again.

Seriously, I have no life.
As voters we can;t do poop about it for 4 more years. Its all up to Congress to get smart.
Well, we vote again in 2 years for congress. That could be a huge stop sign but 2 years is eternity and unknown as memory is short.

Alright, story time :p

I’m actually pretty familiar with conservative mentality since I’m a survivor of the education system that produced shitbags like Kavanaugh (yeah, he probably did it). I graduated from a private school in MD run by Opus Dei, a particularly nutty brand of Catholicism; I was stuck in Catholic schools since 5th grade, and suffice it to say things didn’t go well for me.

Junior and senior year at that school, nobody gave me poop though. It helped that I had a growth spurt that summer and trimmed down a bit. It also didn’t hurt that everyone knew I was there because I put a kid in the hospital after he started poop with me (he shoved me into the lockers, I had a pen in my hand, one thing led to another and well…yeah). So I got to see who these people were.

With each other, no problems at all. The Taiwanese exchange students? Yeah, they had a mob throw rocks at them once. That’s what you’re dealing with.

Ohh yeah… I remember laughing about the list of bizarre sexual practices in their religion books (thankfully they gave us heathens philosophy class instead). Bestiality, yeah I get that. Masturbation, not so much. When I went to my 10 year reunion I was actually having a decent time (one guy brought a whole lot of weed :p) until the old headmaster decided to start preaching about abortion. I just stumbled out and never went back.

I can't even watch it anymore. It's still a little fun to see some Drudge headlines, but I cannot reconcile seeing Republicans being the very things they accuse the Democrats of. It's just a mirror, and the hypocrisy.......:(

Edit: if say the left is "fake news," well that means you are as fake if not more fake. How do you make it through life? Faux primetime, nat'l conservative radio, influencers, MAGA diehards, Trump sounds like high grit sandpaper/a dry drunk....

This is the illusion being shattered.
In just a few minutes, the behavior of Donald Trump and J. D. Vance created a brand-new stereotype for America: not the quiet American, not the ugly American, but the brutal American. Whatever illusions Europeans ever had about Americans—whatever images lingered from old American movies, the ones where the good guys win, the bad guys lose, and honor defeats treachery—those are shattered.
While you are quite right that the European members of NATO (Canada, too) need to invest more in our own defence, that isn't the point of the article.

A mild recession with Reserve Bank lowering interest rate will give the Wall Street a reason to rally and Trump and The Congress the runway to cut taxes with apparent lower deficits.
There are a lot of moving parts to consider here. Tariffs are going to fuel inflation, so lower interest rates are just going to pour gasoline on that fire. Trump appears determined to lower taxes for the wealthy. With tariffs driving up consumer prices, it will amount to transferring the burden to those with lower incomes.

Another example of how dumb the Trump era is where garbage like this is made up.

>>>“Access to cheap goods is not the essence of the American Dream,” Bessent said during a speech at the Economic Club of New York. “The American Dream is rooted in the concept that any citizen can achieve prosperity, upward mobility, and economic security. For too long, the designers of multilateral trade deals have lost sight of this. International economic relations that do not work for the American people must be reexamined.”<<<

If the US voters want change, Congress needs to be pressured. If they don't respond, the ones who don't respond need to be replaced.

That is exactly what I said: those are the people who voted for this regime and they are going to get hit the hardest.

The only way to pressure Congress in this country is vote them out, but its been nearly impossible as there are poop for brains candidates that always fall to the pressure of the OLD TIMERS, or want to be "relevant as a far left or a far right. I guess LOUD gets noticed. Without term limits nothing will change.
