The automatic transmission bit was something I hadn't known about before.

It's not just transmissions, GM had a whole division called CPC, which stood for 'Chevrolet/ Pontiac/Canada'- I have mentioned a friend who worked at the Desert Proving Ground and he was employed in that division. The parts, engines, assemblies and other items sourced in Canada was extensive.

Pretty much… As far as I’m concerned, we’re basically at dead horse territory here. A lot of things need to change to have a just society, and at the going rate it doesn’t seem like that’s going to be a particularly clean process (assuming it happens at all).

The problem with Trump is he predicts everything by way of change and delivers nothing. Talk is really cheap, for him, but the outcome is a fat zero.

He tells people that he will deport everyone and anyone that according to him is an illegal emigrant back to Mexico , What he doesn't tell is just how many so-called
illegals he employs in any of his businesses

The big problem your always going to face is your voting system. Really it's total apathy, People simply can't be bothered to vote for change, The excuse being, someone else will vote so why should I bother. The Answer of cause is compulsory voting . It works in the rest of the world, We in OZ even have to vote for local council elections
or big fines are imposed. It works here so why not there.

To give in to his demands. Though I'm wondering if Trump thinks this will somehow bring down prices and/or create a better deal for Americans. Like how does the rest of the world deal with inflation and get prices down, or is it even possible after covid etc? That's a very gracious reading of his motives cause in the back of my mind he rather thrives on chaos, likes to escalate things on camera and might be the same with tariffs.

He knows much of it won't work, but they are busy eliminating roadblocks and enemies so they can do what they want to without opposition. Pretty much this:

And while people are watching the sh1t, they're busy setting up their businesses to line their pockets. All those stupid people believed the obvious BS that was being spouted and we're ALL going to pay for it. Their big selling point is "we're going to fix the economy" but really, they are just sinking it.

Let's START calling a spade a spade Import Tax. Stop using the neutered - Tariff.
I wish every retailer would start showing the Import Tax on their price label, e.g. Product Price + Tariff = Your price.

He is also talking about including Pharmaceuticals - most generics and OTCs are imported. Mostly India. Including pharmaceuticals will really hurt the sickest, the elderly the most.
