So my Benq LK970 projector has been giving me trouble turning it on. Sometimes when I push power the red "light" light turns on then it shuts off. But then if I unplug it then plug it back in it usually starts up and never turns off during the movie. For the last few days it has been starting up fine the first try without unplugging and plugging it back in. Is this a laser problem or something else? If you guys could please give me your thoughts on this that would be great!
Thank you for your time!

Read your manual! On page 45 it lists the causes of the red light coming on. It has a lot of causes. My hunch though is that the cooling fan is failing and not getting up to speed quick enough the first turn on, possibly because a bearing is starting to cease up. I don't see that the unit has a diagnostic port, so it may well need the attention of a tech experienced in with these units. Its fault coding system seems elementary in the extreme for such a costly unit.

Thank you for that. Another problem thats happening is when I pull up the menu it will not allow me to use the first two parts of the menu and the last part of the menu. (The "picture" and the "display", and the last one "information"). The "installation", "system setup basic" and "system setup advanced" all work. What could be causing this?

You own this thing and I don't. Like all complex equipment set up takes time and understanding. The set up menu options are explained form pages 24 to 32 of the user manual. Yes, that is 8 pages and it is up to you to figure it out and not us. I am not even sure you have read the user manual. As usual RTFM applies.

Well the menu used to work and now part of it doesn't. Theres nothing in the manual to explain this.

Try the universal fix for processor issues...unplug it from power for a while and plug it back in. A soft reset.

Already unplugged it and left unplugged over night. Didn't do anything. But I had to unplug it momentarily and plug it back in to get it working after the red "light" came on and it shut down. After I plugged it back in the projector started working. But it did this about 5 or 6 different times. So something is wrong with it for sure!

You are probably right, but I'm not going to fix it from my armchair. So it likely will have to be returned for service, if it is even available. To do a hard reset you hold the power button down for 10 seconds. If two or three hard resets don't do the job, it needs service.
