Center speaker stand?

Anyone have a lead on a center speaker stand? I think I need to go at least 36" to 40" high. Or I suppose a solid cabinet or shelving? If I had my druthers, I'd have a cabinet with drawers, but I suppose that would vibrate and not be exactly appropriate.

I do have a plastic shelving unit that is about the correct height I can use temporarily. I'd like something better.

I had this custom made for my Revel 426be and it’s also a TV stand. Think outside the box.

Super nice man. Maybe I can do something like that. Where do you get cool hunks of wood like that? I just thought of a guy who might make me something. I'll show him your shots! Thx!
It’s exotic cedar and I have no clue where it came from. I’m in Colorado and there are several hard wood stores around the state though. I’d start with a hard wood supplier Google search around your area.

I think I'll use this. It's the exact right height and the right color. I could place some heavy duty rubber under the center speaker. It was passed down to me from my dad. My Grandpa bought it in the 1930's, I think at Montgomery Wards. Do you think I should remove the driver from it so it doesn't resonate? Too bad that glass is broken.

Also, what I'll do is add some ballast to the bottom so it's not top heavy.

If that is at the ht you need it could look super cool IMO, if done correctly. Keep us posted as to what you do.

I took a pair of old 26" stands, put them side by side and that worked well.

Don't use rubber; use a cloth or use something under the rubber. Rubber directly on the wood will discolor the cabinet of the radio.

I can't imagine the driver resonating much if any. There would be little to no air movement in the cabinet. I would be more worried about the glass vibrating or parts of the radio inside, if you get a sympathetic vibration inside, but that's more of a trial and error thing. The glass can always be replaced.

That's a beautiful piece and if there is family history I would think about a proper electrical restoration to get the radio working again.

The glass is stenciled so it'd have to be reproduced by an artist I imagine. So that's a bummer. Perhaps I could cement the crack back together.
It does work or at least I know it did 20 years ago. My dad had it plugged in back then and it worked. I have had it since about 2008 and I have never plugged it in. Good enough for me to know it did work and probably still does.
I don't have any intention of using it as a radio. I could remove the guts and put them away somewhere for the purpose of keeping it sound or as sound as it probably is.
Thanks @j_garcia for the tip on rubber on the wood.

It's hard to find a center speaker stand that stands as high as I need it. It'll be a beefy speaker so it has to be a real solid stand at that height. Two speakers stands together maybe, but not so sure about that. I am liking the console radio as my pedestal. I don't have the speaker yet. I am hoping by next weekend.
