Can we have a rational discussion about guns and why the typical arguments for gun control and its implementation won't work?

Of course they're not. They haven't been manufactured in decades, and we don't need to find out with the production of new ones. The End.
I agree, but you're wrong- they ARE manufactured, just not for the civilian market. That doesn't mean shipments aren't hijacked, though. But then, those aren't headed to anyone but gangs and cartels.

Sorry, I haven't paid much attention to your drivel, what post would that have been ?
The drivel you cannot denounce like it was the ban that prevents more firepower by consumers. So when you say nobody's buying MG's, well yeah because of the ban. Otherwise w/o the ban, there's reason to believe they would.

Of course they would, because telling people they can't have something is the best way to get them to want it more. This is the reason we have so many laws.

Bizarre logic there.

Edit: seems like what you're saying is if we just had less laws than people wouldn't want _____ (ie MG's). The desire for them would just go away, naturally, and on there own if we just stopped telling them they can't have things.

If you want to rant about machine guns, start your own effing thread, don't derail mine or anyone elses'. I started this thread to see if someone here had ideas that could help with the problem and you're acting like someone's little brother, tugging on peoples' sleeve trying to get attention.

Have you ever seen what children do when they're told that they can't have something? They want it more. That's human nature. The problem with illegal guns is that behavior isn't being addressed and used as the solution, just controlling access to guns and they're trying to change access by LEGAL gun owners, current or potential. Don't punish the good kids for what the bad kids do.

If you know any gun owners, you probably know that some are all talk, some will discuss the topic calmly and others don't want to talk about it, at all. If you ask them if they want to shoot someone for any reason, the gung ho may say they do but there's a difference between wanting to and being willing, if absolutely necessary. Those who possess guns illegally intend to use them, either as a threat, defense or to shoot someone. Big difference.

WRT machine guns- I know people who own and fire them, but they live in remote areas where nobody will be shot. Most are former military, so they have experience, not like the wannabes on YouTube and other sites who are actually dangerous in general. They fire these weapons in a very controlled manner and anyone who does something unsafe or stupid is TOLD to leave. There's no reason for the vast majority of others to have them, but if they can afford it and if they'll actually practice, maybe it's OK if they aren't idiots and mentally sound. FWIW, there aren't many places where the public can use these, AFAIK.

Would you, or would you not support lifting the ban on the manufacture of new MG's? I only need to hear that answer.

Key word here is for civilians to buy at gun shops.

I don't know how many ways I can say it and I don't know why you didn't ask that question much earlier- no, I don't support lifting the ban. Military and Law Enforcement aren't affected, so it can only be enforced against civilians. I have posted that many times, too. As I also posted- freedoms are great, but they do come with responsibility.

Again, have you not read my many comments about people being a huge disappointment, being stupid & (over)reactive, lazy and willing to do something bad when the other choice would have been easier and better?

Telling criminals to stop is like telling a fire to stop burning- it doesn't work.

So gangs and cartels (criminals) have machine guns but law abiding citizens shouldn’t have them for self defense? Police show up after a crime and collect evidence but almost never arrive in time to prevent a crime. Furthermore the Supreme Court ruled law enforcement has to duty to protect.

A shipment of night vision equipment was just hijacked in SoCal. A National Guard base was just robbed of equipment. We just caught illegal aliens with 10,000 rounds of 50 cal ammo. Just caught people smuggling RPG-7’s. That’s just what’s in the news in the last couple weeks and I’m leaving out the stuff that’s not in the news.

As seen by our last President who opened the border to every criminal and terrorist organization on the planet our government does not always have our best interests in mind. The Founders of our Nation understood this and created the 2nd Amendment explicitly for this very reason.

The only rational discussion on gun control in America: Shall not be infringed.

With that thinking you can own grenades, rocket launchers, RIpley-styled gun including flame thrower, and missile system in the backyard. I'm having fun with this LOL, but I thought the best way to prevent people from having more stuff is to prevent the manufacture of new stuff. Also where are all these examples of cartels owning machine guns, and terrorizing nnocent civilians? I'd think it would be all over the news.

How could the Police show up in time to prevent crimes when they're the result of volitile anger? Domestic Violence incidents are most liklely to end a cop's life- no other incident is as dangerous for them. By decree or not, they can't prevent crimes when they're busy handling other stupid crap like car thefts, organized shoplifting and shootings.

That 'W'hen seconds matter, the Police are only minutes away" has never mattered more. There was a time when the Milwaukee PD's average response time was 29 minutes.

Are you serious? You don’t think cartels terrorize innocent civilians, I think you’re being willfully ignorant or just trolling at this point. Teen de Aragua isn’t a criminal organization, they are a terrorist organization created by Maduro and trained by Russian Spetznas terrorizing South and Central America who now have a serious foothold in the US. Cartels have been working with radical Islamic terrorist organizations and Iran to smuggle terrorists and equipment into the US. Biden opening our southern border to a lot of people that hate us is a gift that will keep on giving long after he’s gone. This gets worse before it gets worse.

I personally know special forces soldiers who have been fighting against terrorists in other parts of the world for the last decade. I also personally know deputy sheriffs and the head of our local swat team. I have a family member that works for a three letter agency and I don’t have a clue what they do, but they fly all over the world. Another family member is on the ninth circuit Federal Court. Every last one of them tells me I should own guns, lots of guns because nobody can protect an individual from real organized terrorists and criminal organizations in this country. You should pull your head out and consider the possibility that this world has never been safe and it still isn’t, Your personal safety is up to you.
