Off subject a bit but I love that your studio is not in a basement as most are. I can't enjoy music the same without windows and greenery. OK, a cityscape has also served me well.
We don't watch a lot of movies. Usually when one of our children or the grandchildren want to watch one. It is a good movie experience though, especially because dialog is clear and natural. Like you, I don't like dungeons, and would hate this room to have dark walls and no windows. I did wire the room for a projector but have not been tempted to go down that route. The picture from the LG OLED is spectacularly good, and I don't think any projector could match, just produce a larger picture. I know purist movie buffs would object, but the room tells the story dramatically, and the sound effects can be terrifying. There may be no subs by the usual definitions, but you would not want sound effects deeper or louder. Butt kickers are absolutely not required here. In the end it is a demonstration of how using physics to your advantage beats brute force easily.
But the room is used predominantly to stream concerts and opera, and for all manner of digital discs, LPs and some tapes. Streaming has really opened up, although few classical discs have been made. However the BPO have really led the way in Atmos concert streaming. It has been a learning curve, for them. They are making progress at speed. I suspect a lot of time and effort goes into producing these Atmos streams, as there is a significant delay between the release of the two channel lossless FLAC stream and the Atmos streams which actually is getting longer. However their latest efforts I find astonishing in their realism especially the depth of the sound field, at least on this rig.
What I am curious about is how many members are availing themselves of these Atmos streams and how. From what little they have shared with me, it seems most are using Atmos enabled headphones. I wish they would survey their very large membership, as I think the data would be very interesting and useful.
