Klipsch Sevens, TV audio and music

Please forgive my ignorance. I own no home theater setup yet, so I'm a complete newby.

I use my TV's internal Wifi to watch Netflix and YouTube. I'd like to have better sound during movies, and I'd also like to take advantage of streaming music from Apple or Tidal or the like.

I'm old and used to drool over Klipsch La Scala's and Heritage speakers, and now I kind of gravitate to that. So I found some powered speakers called The Fives/Sevens/Nines that look like they could be a perfect (and easy) solution. But I'm not completely certain if I've understood what's needed.

My TV has two HDMI in's and one digital optical output. So I think what I can do is connect my TV via the optical output to an audio streaming box called a Wiim Pro, and then connect the Wiim Pro's optical output to the powered speakers.

Am I going down the wrong path?

That would work. What is the TV model? It should have an ARC port. The “Nines” speakers, just to pick one for example, has an ARC input port for connection to a TV. A streaming device of various types could also be connected directly to the TV and its audio sent out over ARC from the TV.

However the connection made, the speakers only support PCM signals and any devices and the TV should be set for PCM output as Dolby and DTS signals are not supported.

How far do you sit from the display? I'd look at something like the Kali Audio range of speakers, they offer excellent value, the JBL LSR308 is another, since you already have a DAC in the WiiM.

Well, I've gone and done it. I ordered a pair of Klipsch The Nines and a Wiim Ultra. I'll do a write-up asap.

I installed the Klipsch Nines today along with a Wiim Ultra. The Eximus One stands I got from Amazon are not stable enough, so I've ordered a pair of Monolith from Monoprice... we'll see if they're better.

Anyway, the sound is fun. They make a good addition to my TV as a "centrerbar replacement", and they play my streaming music well. They also look quite good.
