Reason #100000000001 for benefits of using Ad Blockers (Ublock Origin and Pihole) and in the case of Apple mobile devices - NextDNS (with some tweaking) and Brave Browser.

I use PiHole. You can also use OpenDNS for your name resolution and that will provide some blocking.

One thing I always want to encourage: Don't put your user account into the administrators group. Setup a separate recovery admin account.

If your Windows profile gets hammered you login with the Admin account. Create another user account and using File Explorer copy over your data from the compromised profile to the new one and start running from there. In a few weeks log back in with the Admin account and delete the compromised user profile.
