Well, that’s a question? Currently have an onkyo avr with no phono stage, using a pre2.

Is it worth anything switching over to an integrated amp with a phono such as a Yamaha 501?

I wouldn't find that worth the time or money since you have an external phono stage (assume you mean an ART DJpreII ?).

No, a phono preamp is the way to go.
