ADS speakers?

a/d/s used to be the king of mids & tweets in car audio. Some of the sweetest soft dome tweets I have ever heard.

I had ADS amps and separates along with an Eclipse head unit in a Sentra SE-R back when I was into trying to blow out car windows with SPL back in the day (1990). We had MB Quart subs in a custom box. Those were the days. The ADS stuff was really nice.

ADS is very nice.. I still have a pair of 320i component car audio and 300i plate car audio speakers in my store room. I converted the smaller 200i plate speakers into small surrounds for my HT. Oh, and I have their SB10 dual 10" subs with box.

I probably need to ebay these...including the 6 channel ph15 amp.

Anyway, awesome speakers! Never heard the story of how they have basically vanished.

a/d/s used to make excellent home audio speakers as well and even had a brief flirtation with separate components. All of their stuff was extremely well made and their speakers were excellent. They eventually got out of conventional speakers to focus exclusively on car audio and architectural speakers.

Their car audio stuff is about as good as it gets.

I owned a pair of a/d/s bookshelf speakers sometime in the mid/late 70's (or was it early 80's?) Anyway, soft dome tweeters...very good speakers. Traded up for something.....

ADS loudspeaker need to sell

I have a pair of these a/d/s loudspeaker and need to sell ASAP. Can someone tell me how much I should sell them. These are tall and big towers, Model in the back MV 60/t . Range from 30-200 watts.

They are still making speakers.

They were bought out by DEI a number of years ago, production was moved overseas, along with clarion etc. A/D/S of today is just a shadow of what it once was. There is a big difference between the stuff made in Massachusetts and stuff made in China.

Great speakers. Where they made in Massachusetts or by Braun in Germany.
Brauns and ADS look similar. Both excellent speakers.

I have one pair of ADS 300i speakers new in the box. They have never been used and thus have never been installed. They come with the manual and the rest of what is in the box. In new condition, these are very hard to find. The soft dome tweeter is really hard to beat for detail and imaging. The crossover is of the quality that one cannot really find unless you spend over $1000 on new car speakers. If you have interest in these, let me know. Otherwise I will post them on Ebay with a reserve price. I originally had 3 pairs of these. I used 2 pairs in some of my cars, but never installed this 3rd pair. These can be installed in many different places in a car because they do not have deep mounting required. If you know this speaker, I likely do not have to tell you much of the details.

Let me know if you want. I'll place them on Ebay tonight or on Saturday.

More on the ADS 3000 speakers:

These are really great speakers for someone who knows this model well. The tweeter and crossovers are what make these things sound like $1000+ speakers. I have some large B&W and Theil home speakers and I have always loved the imaging from the a/d/s/ line. Hard to beat these for quality of sound in any fine car installation.

Again, this is on Ebay right now ending next Sunday, Jan 4th and the speakers are brand new -- never used, never installed -- still in the box with the owners manual.
