Did I connect it wrong?

I bought a Fosi Audio DA2120A DAC/amp combo that says it will play Flac and wave files Loseless. I connect my digital audio player from the USB c port to the DAC through the auxialry port and the display is playing the flac files at 48khz instead of 44.1khz. I also attached a screenshot of the specs and it says something about sampling frequency for certain inputs. Does that mean I need to use 1 of those ports to get the lossless audio? Thank you.

USB-C to 3.5mm adapter used to connect to AUX port? What is this digital audio player?

Correct. I'm new to this stuff. Do I need to connect it differently?

What makes you think you aren't getting lossless ?

Your media player (whatever it is) must be set to output at 48khz, unless the Fosi is resampling them.
That input spec shows what the ports are capable of.

Lossless audio just means that all the information from the original recording/source is preserved. It doesn't necessarily mean a specific sampling rate all the time - that can vary depending on the original source and how it was captured to create the lossless file.

The entry point for "high res" audio is 24bit/48kHz, so seeing 48kHz displayed isn't necessarily wrong. You'd have to check the specs on the file you're playing to confirm though. If the file info is not 48kHz, then as isolar suggests, either the player or the Fosi is likely configured to resample.

Edit:
That 3.5mm AUX port might be analog.
If you have USB-C out from the player, just go into the PC-USB input on the Fosi. You might need a C to A or B type cable.

I just assumed that if my DAP was playing the files at 44.1khz that the DAC should be as well and shouldn't be resampling. Is that the wrong way to think about it?

A lot of devices take 44.1 and turn it to 48....both are still lossless.
48 is usually for audio from video.
Not sure what the Fosi does, not much documentation on it...what is the media player ?
I would look there first.

DAP? Adapter? Not uncommon for 24/48 lock on USB-C to 3.5mm adapter.

It's a HiBy R3 Pro Saber Music Player. What should I be looking for in regards to the resampling.

It's a HiBy R3 Pro Saber Music Player. I just bought a us c to 3.5 adaptor from Amazon. The DAC does have a coaxial and a PC USB input as well if either if those would help me. I don't know if it matters but I keep hearing that resampling of music makes it sound a little worse.

Can't find much about that player other than all the eq settings and such....didn't see a passthrough option myself.
I wouldn't worry about the 48khz resampling. The player is already doing its own thing with the sound before it sends it out.
You have lossless...

I'd think you would want to keep a digital connection into the Fosi so it acts as the DAC. Perhaps USB-C to optical?

OK thank you

If it's converting it to analog, the Fosi would be doing its own ADC afterwards. 24/48 as the target would make some sense in that case.

Is that normal for DAC's or am I getting what I paid for with a $100 DAC.

I wouldn't want to convert to analog, then back to digital then back to analog again. Or at least that's what it sounds like might be going on if the Fosi is saying "48kHz" instead of "analog" in some sort of passthrough.

Unless you have some reason to believe your usb-c to 3.5mm DAC is superior to the one built into the Fosi, I would just use a usb-c to whatever type of USB input is on the Fosi and pass digitally.

But, if you're happy with the sound as it is, you already have a working solution in place.
