I need a bluetooth module for my AV receiver, or other solution?

I'd like to be able to play other people's music they have on their phone. The common thing today is bluetooth but I have not looked into sonic pros/cons vs doing something plugged in?

One of my concerns with using the 1/8" jack option is, is that analog coming in? I would think I would want to get a digital feed and allow the receiver to use it's DACs? Ultimately, I am trying to achieve the best sound quality. If plugging in is optimal, I am find with that too.

As far as connections, I am wide open to options, I have optical, HDMI, analog, digital coax, etc.

Many already have BT capability. Better to go wifi IMO, tho (and with right apps just as easy to share). If you use a 1/8" jack that's analog (digital would be optical, digital coax, hdmi, usb). I'd just do wifi for best quality rather than bt. Some of the latest bt codecs are rather good and even address range issues. Other than bt, the digital connections tend to be lossless.

Fewer and fewer phones even have a 1/8" jack these days, so I'd recommend against that option regardless of other considerations.

BT 5.0 surprised me- until I found out about this piece, I KNEW that BT sucked because that was the experience I and everyone I know who installs AV equipment had, but because I didn't have a need to check into it, I didn't. This was in 2018 and on the day I found the Miccus, I learned that BT had definitely made huge advances and after listening to it, I found no issues with sound quality. It wasn't critical listening, but it still sounded far better than I had heard from BT in this kind of application.

What is the model of receiver? If it is network connection equipped and supports Airplay 2 and Chromecast, anybody on the network should be able to stream to it.

As for receiver, I am doing a budget audio build and this is a Pioneer Elite SC-09. Not going to spend another 2K just to get BT.

Historically, I use a an HTPC that is my central media source. I've actually been waiting for more goodies in the PC area so I can just use a quality PC card as my pre/pro and delete a receiver/preamp all together.

In this build, I am just using the ice amps to drive a couple channels.

As for BT sonics, I probably won't get proper audiophile quality and that's ok. Will still be a radical step up from the $4 system in there now.

Your solution is a Chromecast unit. So a phone just connects to your router, and then connects the phone directly to the Chromecast unit. So there is NO triangulation. I have one of those units on all my three systems. That way visitors can connect to my system easily.

So I have been doing some checking and really looks like nothing but good from the Ifi Zen Blue. However, only the V2 has an optical out and just the blue has RCA out only! Surprised! the question is should I splurge about DOUBLE the price just to get the optical option? Balanced really is not an option for me because I am going back through a receiver that does not have it. My big amps do, but not using them.

The actual cable run will be maybe 5ft.

But I am trying to understand this correct, if I use optical out, the incoming BT is decoded per the latest codec, then digitized AGAIN to pipe through the glass, where my receiver DAC has to decode AGAIN? Is that right?

If so, could it be possible that just using the RCA analog connection would be a better play?
