Bulkhead and Top Speakers

Hi all,

Hoping for some help! I'm installing a 5.1.2 system (with Atmos).

I have the front, rear, and sub all figured out, but I am unsure on the best placement of the 2 Atmos speakers due to a double bulkhead in the ceiling. See the picture.

I have three options, all option numbers shown in the picture:
  1. Install the Atmos speakers in the main ceiling (the highest part of the ceiling). The problem with option 1 is that the Atmos speakers would be much farther in front of the listener than recommended.
  2. Install the Atmos speakers in the main bulkhead (second highest part of the ceiling). The problem with option 2 is that one Atmos speaker would be just in front of the second bulkhead, effectively tucking it into a horizontal corner. I am unsure if this is a problem from an acoustic perspective.
  3. Install one Atmos in the second bulkhead (the lowest part of the ceiling) and one in the main bulkhead (second highest part of the ceiling). This would mean the two Atmos speakers would be at different heights. It would also mean the lower Atmos speaker would be slightly too low relative to recommendations, and it would be very close to a rear speaker (both tucked in a corner).
My leaning is option 2, but I'd appreciate some guidance.

Thanks!

I’m inclined to agree with option two. It’s a pretty unique ceiling and looks like a PITA lol. I like option one vertically, but horizontally two is better. I vote number two.
