Anybody in Canada order from China Hi-Fi? I've decided on the Wilsenton R8, and I see I can save about 400 bucks over Amazon, but I can't see if the order will be subject to duty when it crosses over. Anybody in Canuckville know?

Yes, it will be subject to all taxes, including Federal and Provincial sales taxes. In addition if it is a high ticket item you will likely be forced to engage a customs broker.
I used to import speaker and electronics into Canada, and it was all an expensive PITA. I strongly discourage you from dealing direct to China.

Why you would want an outdated boat anchor with point to point wiring in this day and age is beyond me. That is not even as neat as a Harold J. Leak amp from the 1950s.

Tag and turret board are so much better than soldering components together at various spots......I understand that it makes sense in some ways, but some of the pieces look like someone tossed a handful of components into a box, shook it and viola!

The link shows a guitar amplifier from the late-50s, when many companies were building without the same level of organization. I have one of these- it's now 65 years old and it's still operating. although it needs filter caps.
