Is Fixing a Marantz SR6006 Worth it?

I have a Marantz SR6006 that's been gathering dust for several years. As I recall, it had video problems but I don't remember exactly what the problem was.

I don't have any use for it, but I doubt it's worth anything unless I get the video fixed. I'm not motivated enough to attempt fixing it myself.

Any suggestions other than just throwing it away or donating it?

Hopefully by "throwing it away" you mean taking it to an e-waste or electronics recycling facility.

Dunno what costs would be to have somebody run diagnostics on it. If it is repairable, it probably won't be cheap compared to just buying an entry level AVR today. While the SR60xx series isn't entry level, I doubt that the 6006 would be in high demand for anybody building a modern-ish HT.

That is now an 11 year old receiver, so you would have a high chance of running into an unavailable parts problem.

Before you take it to the recycling center, I would do three hard resets at least, to see if it resolves the video issue. Symptoms of hardware and software issue can be impossible to distinguish by behavior alone. If after three resets the problem is not resolved then it is a hardware issue. If it is no use to you, then it is no use to anyone else. Then you need to dispose of it responsibly.

Did you make sure your memory was accurate and that it didn't work? Try a reset of the unit?

Does it still work without video ? Or do you need to access video to set it up etc ..
Why would you donate something broken goodwill just tosses that stuff if it doesnt work , then they price gouge consumers if it works ?
I was at a goodwill were they crushed every electronic because incompetent employees, didn’t stay there but temporarily missed a vacation over that trash job. Forever hate goodwill for that ..

Yeah considering many avr still work fine without video I’m shocked he got rid of it so fast ?!

He said it’s gone already to the dump , hey i tried too tell him it works without video ..
better luck next avr , maybe it was too broken? Or lot worse then just no hdmi. Some avr set up don’t work without hdmi? Mine will be toast when hdmi fries..
