Can you suggest a website for 7.2.4 (or 7.1.4) speaker position recommendations with the four heights being on the wall, NOT the ceiling? I can only find ceiling positioning for Dolby ATMOS..
Thank you

Thanks for that. The Dolby guide certainly has a lot of configs but believe it or not, there is no 7.2.4 for just the use of wall heights. They tend to have ceiling or ATMOS-enabled speakers bouncing off a ceiling. The closest for what I want is their 7.2.6 setup, and if I remove the 2 ceiling speakers they use and try to meet the angles for the remaining speakers to the listening position. I'm assuming all the surrounds are supposed to be near ear level?

Yes like that. but I would position the heights up high, over the towers and the rear heights on the back wall also angle down. Best I can find is the attached 7.2.6 where I would replace the ceiling with wall heights on the rear wall aim down.

It comes down to angles on whether the heights on the wall is worth it.
In my future home theater. Only the rear atmos can be on the wall.

Most of the time it's on the ceiling and I cannot recomend anything under 40 degrees elevation.

What is room dimensions?
What is seating position from the walls?
And what is ear height?

You can work out the angles using sketchup with these measurements.

Just remember the whole point of Dolby atmos is to have sounds from above you in addition to the traditional base layer in order to create a full dome of sound. Putting speakers on the walls may leave big holes above you and that's why it's almost always on the ceiling.

And another thing. The atmos speakers are not required to be in line with the front speakers.

Speaker locations matter more than you think.

I hope you understand and consider this information very carefully before you make any decisions.
Enjoy Dolby atmos to the fullest as intended by the director and soundmix.

I don't know of any on-wall Atmos speakers, but you might want to take a look at these Triad's with built-in Atmos speakers:

Yeah that’s the dilemma for many , when you can’t ceiling mount or wall mount Atmos due to fans or not aloud too like me . And is it different then placing a bookshelf facing the ceiling and bounce houses?o_O
im us an non Atmos avr but if it ever dies I’ll have to replace it with one.
