Good center channel for KEF Q150

Helping a co-worker out with setting up a bit of a surround sound system in his 5th wheel. He bought 4 KEF Q150 for front LR and 2 rear surrounds. Any suggestions on a decent KEF center channel to match the Q150?

Another Q 150. It is coaxial and so you can turn it on its side. A coaxial speaker makes the best center you can think of.

Absolutely! Why would this even be discussed when the rest is already Q150s? A simple but elegant solution. No lobing or timber matching issues at all. And economical to boot. You'll want to pair these with a subwoofer (or two) for best results.

I figured I could use another Q150, but that means he'll have to buy a 3rd pair and have an extra speaker.

I know this will be pedantic, but they’re surrounds, not rear surrounds.
I agree. Another q150 is an easy choice. Iirc, kijiji as a good option for you up der ay! Maybe eBay? Someone may have already split a pair up, or even if he has to buy another pair, he could possibly sell the extra.
Maybe he could purchase a single speaker directly?

You will have no trouble selling the extra speaker. You likely will come out money ahead. That is by far the best solution. Horizontal MTM centers are pretty awful. So you would end up with a costly three way.

So in fact even if he let the extra speaker it would still be his cheapest solution.

How does kef sound compared to lower end Klipch is it clearer , coaxial isn’t too common in hi-fi speakers .
Mtm center seem to have a narrow sweet spot right , better for single lister .
Kef , and other 3 way centers are very expensive.
Those KEF Q150 look better built then Klipch synergy /reference.

MTMs centers have a host of issues, even if they get the FR correct. Better to use a bookshelf or a true 3 way center with the mid/tweeter on the same plane. MTM is nothing but a compromise.

For a center channel bookshelf speaker, the best results come with a coaxial driver. A third Q-150 would definitely be the best solution.

Why does kef even make centers if a bookshelf is fine for the job , dang it’s expensive! !!

Just note that you could use that center as a L or R channel as well , FWIW. That's a 3 way center so people with height restrictions have an options.

You are mistaken in regards to the Q150. It can be rotated on it's side with no audible impact and it's the same height then (180 mm) as the Q250c.

Agreed, I was referring to the 250c being able to be used as an LCR and not just a dedicated center.

Why does the center only have 1 woofer ? I mean it still has an extra bass driver over the 150.
