I am a music lover and I want to purchase quality subwoofers. On someone suggestion I visited a site where I saw some quality subwoofers. Among some subwoofers I loved Yamaha 100W 8 inch subwoofer. Before purchasing it I need some suggestions whether I should buy or not.
Do check the subwoofer: https://audiospeaks.com/best-8-inch-subwoofers/

What's your budget? How big is the room? What type of music do you listen to? How loud do you typically listen? Do you have size constraints, is that why you're looking at 8 inch "subwoofers"?

I wouldn't use that site for any suggestions overall....very weird sub list. The Yamaha wouldn't be a sub I'd buy particularly. I'd look at larger drivers than 8" generally (subs can be quite large and quite suitable for music at the same time). Around here you're more likely to be pointed at subs from SVS, Hsu, Monolith, Rythmik, RSL, etc. We have a brand new review of this BIC sub, too. Might help to know more of the things NIN Audio asks first, tho.

I'd look at some of the sub reviews done here as well as some of the articles relating to sub setup first. Maybe check out data-bass.com, too.

You're a braver man than I, there was no way I was even clicking that link.

There's also this gem of a quote:

"This excellent Subwoofer comes with a too high RMS rate of 500 watts. This rate may result in some distortion. Higher the RMS, the more the distortion. This Subwoofer produces the impedance at a rate of 4 ohms. This resistance level will keep it distortion-free no matter how much time it’s been used."

Haha! I didn’t click it!
But that quote there is quite frustrating. Total lies!!! That’s what people find when searching for audio advice. Should be taken down.
Agree with the questions from you two.

If you want to take a short cut, no lone lines, no flowery prose, just send a message to @shadyJ and tell him your budget and room dimensions. He writes many of the subwoofer reviews here on the AH and when it comes to knowing the ins and outs of subs, he's a great one stop shop. I bought my sub on his recommendation and I have been very, very well served.

If you want the longer route, there are plenty of other members on the AH who love subs as well. You can get a shopping list as long as your arm and as deep as your bank account. Its the scenic route but you will get to read about all kinds of cool subs you can't afford.

Take your time. Save up for a sub with a larger driver. Something like 12" should do the trick for most people. Subwoofers perform by moving a lot of air. A larger driver moves more air providing cleaner and deeper bass. I own 4 subwoofers (each in a different room) and the only one I would recommend is the 15" sealed sub I built myself. You probably aren't ready for a home brew unit.

I agree with the others that the web site in question is terrible. It is not a place I would use for any audio advice. There are knowledgeable people on this web site. You should be able to get brand specific advice without any problem. But think bigger. It will be worth it.
