No where did it say in the SFM (stupid f?ckin manual) what the scene selection menu options do but I figured it out by learning how to add extra bass option. I also determined via REW that using pure direct mode will not set the speakers to large when they are configured as small in the speaker config menu. This little nugget of info is also not in the SFM.

I have 12 scene setups and nèeded a 13th which the AVR is not capable of so I spent a couple hours mapping out the scene and IO of my setup. Since I use a Logitech Harmony remote to run my setup, I reached a paradigm that I do not need to map the input for each activity in the scene control panel since the remote switches the input to the appropriate one according to the activity. I went from 12 scene configurations depending on input to 4 scene configurations and it takes care of all of my setup including that 13th config.

I guess speaking Yamaha is as hard as I've thought.....I mean if @3db doesn't speak Yamaha, who does?

I use to be a Yamaha fan back when I had my R-V1103(RX-V793)/RX-V2095/RX-V995 but jumped ship to Denon and now Onkyo.

I did try reading some of their current manuals and I've never read a manual so bad. They tend to do things different than other makers and it can be hard to understand what they are doing and follow what they are doing.
