Agree with TLS Guy. Fancy power cables are just for show. If you really want to spend that kind of money on a power cable, pick the one that looks nicer to you or maybe consider some cheaper alternatives.

The cables that are provided with your equipment already meet the specifications needed for the internal power supply. Bigger power cables do nothing to improve sound. Think about the path that the current must take. You likely have 14 gauge solid copper wire in the walls to the outlet. Take the cover off of your amp and you'll find 14 gauge stranded wire going from the AC socket to the power supply. How could a 2 meter piece of power cord inserted between those make any difference? Replacement cables are just bling.

You definitely have been reading the wrong info....unless the object is to spend money needlessly....do you actually need a different length power cord other than that came with the electronics?

Thanks for the laugh.

You can buy 500 power cables with that kind of budget and they will last you a lifetime and will all "sound" exactly the same.

Since it has nothing to do with reproducing audio or video I think you should choose whichever one lights your fire.

Be careful... It's been discussed before that some of this aftermarket crap is not even certified as safe. There can be a very literal meaning to "lights your fire!"

You are not going to hear such a cable. Much like the conversation about your McIntosh cables before.

I really don’t understand.
Big manufacturers build and sell very expensive power cables.
No government supervision? No one check ?

Question is…
What are you hoping to achieve with a new cable?

Better sound….
Then I’m sorry to say, you’re really looking in the wrong place. If you’re going for better looks, then sure. But to improve sound, won’t happen with a power cable.

As mentioned in your Pre/Pro thread, the single largest impact on the sound of your system are the speakers. That is the first place you would look to improve sound. When you get down to the connections, as long as you are using quality parts, the changes to what you hear are extremely minimal. There are numerous threads on here about it. Often what these components do is alter the sound, not "improve", yet they claim an improvement and assign a value to it. That comes down to a preference, like listening to vinyl instead of SACD. It cannot exactly be characterized as "better" except for a person's preference. Paying top dollar for that doesn't make sense to me and I've tried plenty of different products myself to see if I can hear a difference. I have AQ interconnects laying around unused :)

The reason these manufacturers make some of these things is because unknowledgeable people buy them and they make money. Ask them to prove their claims though and all you will hear are crickets or a bunch of ruffled feathers.

Correct. Many of these companies are just selling overpriced cr@p by preying on the insecurity of people that think they can get that last 1% of better sound quality. Companies like Nordost, Fraudioquest, PS Audio, ...my god there are simply way too many to list...
And yes... if you look, they are not signed off by UL or any other agency.

Go read some reviews on ASR. They had a product from PS Audio that almost electrocuted Amir! He took it apart to inspect and found the ground wire was LIVE and carrying current!

Like I said, most of this is absolute bunk. Quantum Tunneling and battery packs on cables and directional cables...
It's all made up to justify a false narrative.
Electrons just need a good conductor. They don't need to be massaged by vestal virgins with rare whiskeys, fed fioe gras, or have some cosmic pixie dust taped up in little ziploc baggies and stuck to the cable to work properly.

I think it's time to drop some Roger Russell. He was the director of research for quite a while... at McIntosh Labs. Please read and digest. :)

REading all the replies, it looks like you asked your question in good faith. And I believe you got good faith answers in return. Far too many people ask cable questions with no intention of really getting an answer, they just want to have a fight or troll the members here.

Its true. There are many companies out there that will scam you for your money over cables.
The simple description given about the AC current path is probably the best indicator of why there is no sound improvement possible with a new power cable. You can add some bling to your setup, but not better sound, with a fancy power cable.

No need for regulation. The cables work. A Patek Philip watch doesn't tell time as well as quartz controlled electronic watch yet can be incredibly expensive. It tells time as it should.

'UL' has a 170 page specification for AC cords and cables. Very few of these aftermarket cords have been tested to this specification.
