Should I get one or two of these?

I've been reading some reviews of this product, and it is clear that I am missing out on the ultimate in quality from my CD collection. It is clear that unlike all the other snake oil products out there, this is one product that truly does work and delivers results that others simply have been unable to deliver upon.

But, my question is whether I should be satisfied by getting one of these, or should I go ahead and get a second one just to ensure that my CD listening is at the peak of performance that I really do demand?

Would love everyone's thoughts on this.

Without any doubt, that's pure snake oil and obvious fraud. There cannot be any light reflections in a CD player and, in any player, the laser beam is not programmed to reach the edge of a disc.

I've ordered three for future proofing, in case the first two should fail over time.

My friend in WI with the Magnapans used to cover the edges of CDs with magic marker for the same reason. Otherwise such an intelligent guy but I never bought into the idea of light bouncing around inside a CD and affecting readability. :D

EDIT: And of course it is on YouTube already!

Oh no! This isn't an 'already' thing.

This product is something like 20 years old and is out of production. It was over $500 when new and orderable from the manufacturer.

That YouTube video is brand new and goes through exactly why it is all malarkey. It is specifically what led me to create this post. I thought it was laughable how naïve some within a group specifically are.

For fun, there is a good video on YouTube from technology connections explaining copy protection on the original PlayStation. It discusses how they used a location on the disc beyond the lens travel limit. This way burners couldn’t make fraudulent copies. But the tray on the PlayStation was manufactured with this extra travel.

At least two. You can run discs for two passes, once on each one :D

I never understood how darkening the edge had anything to do with anything. I used to burn all my stuff to actual black blanks. This made no difference in how they sounded :)

This is a great idea! I really appreciate it.

Since they are out of production, I will need to do some digging to find a second unit, but it makes a lot of sense that since a single unit does such a great job of improving the clarity of a CD, then using a second unit will make the clarity just so much better.

I appreciate the deep wisdom that these forums always provide.

Do you have a good source for these? I only saw the single unit on eBay, but if I could get another one from elsewhere, I would really like to be able to do so.

Such a great help!

No, you must be wrong on this. I've read the reviews and the jump in clarity is very well documented. I certainly can't just take a single word as proof of anything different than the well founded years of expertise provided by others.

(could I?)

I could tell you my source.........but then I'd have to kill you. Best to keep it to myself. Sorry.

It is fascinating that people don't see how accurately their optical disk drives in their computers handle data so accurately. The slightest error can stop a program in its tracks. I remember when they were selling wooden disks that one would place atop their audio components. The idea was to rotate them in order to achieve the best sound. They sold them with a straight face and magazine reviewers raved about them. Esoteric high end audio is a strange place.

They still are as that eBay has 7 followers of the bidding.

Fred Davis experimented with laser light scattering effect in a CD many moons ago.
"Effects of Stray light within a Cd: Preliminary data published in Boston Audio Society Speaker, vol 19, no 3, page 25.
He flashed overly powerful lasers into Cd, around it, etc, nothing could be measured. :D
