Has anyone out there seen any useful projects as a result of the infrastructure bill? All I've seen is the usual re-paving of roads some of which don't even need it. Where are the better trains, faster internet, etc.? Meanwhile, Europe is moving to double their high-speed rail by 2030. Is it just me or do we suck at this?

Seriously, I have no life.
Let's see how many football, baseball and basketball teams end up with a new facility.

America is not a rail commuter like Europe is.

It's not that we suck at it, we just use funds for dumb sh!t like @highfigh said. If we actually did what we were supposed to our infrastructure would have always been maintained properly. There are some sketchy a$$ bridges out there that haven't been touched in too many years.

Say what you will about my dumbsh!t state (TX) but we don't mess around with roads and bridges. Those are usually always being repaired. Never ending repairs....

No kidding. I imagine they're logic went like this:

"Roads are massively important to TX infrastructure, we must maintain them!"

"Electricity is massively important to TX, what if we just don't do anything and hope for the best? We can always just bill the customer when we need to upgrade, and we'll just tell them to put their thermostat at 80 degrees when it gets hot."

Narrator: "little did they know, it's hot 9 months out of the year"

I'm not sure if it's tied to the infrastructure bill, but several bridges and a major interchange are being redone this year. But they took out my main exit ramp while they redo the bridge. Adds 10 minutes to my commute. At one point, my main cutover to the highway from my house was closed, my mainn exit ramp was closed, two different alternate routes were closed.

They decided to do both roads out of my area at the same time. Getting around sure is fun when there are no available roads.

High speed rail line between SF and LA partially approved.

ALL roads in my area have been getting some work done. It has been absolute chaos with major road closures. Yeah, I want my roads fixed, but at least plan it a bit. I actually had a bent rim as a result of a large pothole and that cost me a pretty penny. So I definitely want them to fix them, but man, three weeks of traffic insanity.

Fixing the roads wouldn't be such an inconvenience if they'd fix one at a time. Road work on all the roads by my house makes getting around very annoying.

On my way from Louisville to NEO I've seen PLENTY of road / water dist updates. Very big and much needed improvements.

I've been around the globe more than a few times and I tire of the 'Murica dumb'. We do well in certain aspects and poorly in others. Same as almost any other 1st world nation.

While Amtrak is finally getting some much needed $$, time will tell if the current administration / management will spend it wisely. Acela is getting a much needed make over as well as physical plant improvement on the NE Corridor. Keystone service (NY-Harrisburg, Pa) still employs metro liner equipment used in the sixties ......
