Hello
I was curious if anyone else had issues with Yamaha CX-A 5200 Processer and Yapo. First off I have the Yamaha processer 2 Svs Pb2000 Pros a pair of paradigm 800F towers, Paradigm 500C center channel and 4 RSL C34E Dolby in ceiling Atmos Speakers and a Monolith 7x 200 Amp. When I run Yapo I have all speakers set to small set to 80 Hrz. I have Atmos speakers set as overhead presence speakers front and back. Then when I start running Yapo with multi measure it will test front center and go around to all speakers. But when it gets to front presence it moves next to my subs and skips my rear presence speakers altogether, and then they disapear from my calibration measurement. and when I go to save result the only speakers saved are front center 2 subs and my two front presence speakers. I spoke with Yamaha this afternoon and they ran out of time and said they would reach out to me on Monday. Does anyone have a solution. I purchased this item from accessories4less and have had other items from them with no problem. I have done a hard reset already but no luck. The funny thing is when I set this up initially I ran Yapo and I was all set, but I received a new shelf for my rack and had to disconnect it and move it down a shelf. After that is where all the trouble started.
Thank Guys

Sorry you're having the trouble but you re-did YPAO just for unplugging it and moving it a shelf? Or did it just act up at that point without re-running YPAO? When you moved things around everything was disconnected/powered down? or ?

Yes I moved it to another shelf and re ran Yapo before I started it again. But now I am getting a popping noise from my speakers, I turned the processer off as I have determined it is defective and I have sent a message to accessories4less to get a refund.

Try a complete reset of the processor first you may have to start from scratch and go through the whole setup procedure again .

Yep did that twice once when Yamaha tech was on phone with me, and once after I talked to him. I still get the same result. Accessories4less sent me an email and said it is under warranty and that I would have to take to a service center that is authorized by Yamaha. I looked up the three they sent me and lucky for me or not, depending on If they can get the parts to fix it or not and how long its going to take there is one 15 minutes away. Either way I have no Processer to run my system with. It sucks: I have never had a problem with any of their AVR'S before, I have had them since the 90s. But when I got up this morning I turned it on to watch news and about 5 minutes in,
a very loud POP came through my speakers. I then shut it down and am living with the very hard to hear TV speakers. Thanks everyone who responded I really appreciate all the knowledge and help.

At least it's still under warranty. Refurb I assume? Is it full factory warranty or the extended? How long did you have the processor up and running before the issue?

I've been thru a coupla refurbs I got, but both were eligible for return to A4L (then I just bought a new one from them as I was tired of trying to save the bucks with the tear down and putting the backup in place, etc).

I think it's at least good fortune the service center is only 15 minutes away, that beats hell out of having to ship it....

Don't be surprised if the unit does it again a short while after return. I bet this receiver did this from the get go. However during the return it was powered down for a long time, and I bet the unit worked perfectly on the test bench. You can't fix a unit that works fine on the bench. So don't be surprised if this history repeats.

That is why I would never by a returned refurb. If it happened on a new unit, I would demand a replacement. You have to hope you are lucky enough for this unit to misbehave on the test bench.

It's a pre-pro. Ya takes your chances with a refurb for sure but depends how much the savings are worth betting to you.....

Yes, I see it is a pre/pro. That makes it all the more likely it has an intermittent fault on the processing board some place.

Another refurb story. Once a week. :D

In another sense, only once a week means only 52 reports per year and that would be a small fraction of sales....
Well, that's actually the 2nd one reported here this week - the other one was "I returned a Refrub Marantz 6015 and got an Emo, then I returned the Emo when it broke a few days later " :D

Who knows how many other refurbs are reported elsewhere if reported at all?

Let alone trying to extend stats based on just what's here or on another site or two....now the actual manufacturer records for warranty claim could be interresting if appropriately filtered....

A few observations:
  1. There are are a fair amount of forum regulars here that sell pretty much any product you might look for and typically I have found pricing attractive enough to never consider buying used or refurbished gear. It might be worth talking to some of them. Nothing like a full factory warranty that can give you the warm fuzzies
  2. I have a local dealer I have been buying from since 2002, that has taken care of any equipment/customer service issue I have every had with my gear. I established a good relationship with him, gave him lots of referrals because of it. Good equipment is not hard to find (well pre-covid/chipshortage) o_O. Good customer service is not so easy, sometimes it's better to open the piggy bank than roll the dice.
I know it's kind of a Taboo situation if your a dealer to promote that fact, but might be beneficial to have a forum channel that is a "Authorized Dealer" channel, so people can ask questions etc to long term people that have built credibility on the forum.
