I own a JVC rx-888v receiver. Wondering if my new Klipsch rx-14m speakers are big enough to handle the receiver. Intending these to be the primary speakers (not rear or surround).

Yes, your Klipsch speakers should be able to handle the output power of your receiver, provided that you don't over drive your amplifiers to the clipping point, in which situation you could destroy the tweeters. Those speakers are reported to have an instantaneous peak power rating of 200 non distorted watts.

You may have a misunderstanding about speaker size. Generally it's the smaller ones that are harder on an amp, i.e. less efficient/less sensitive. Hoffman's Iron Law of speaker building to an extent. Generally larger speakers are easier for amplification in that they are more efficient and more sensitive. In any case those Klipsch are fairly small speakers with limited capabilities overall, hopefully you will use a sub with them at least....can only get so much from a 4" midwoofer like they have. Keep in mind also Klipsch uses a somewhat different sensitivity rating, theirs is an "in-room" type deal where it's generally stated 4-5dB higher than typical measurements (anechoic).
