Can’t decide on new sub/subs

I was talking to some cat at SpeakerPower last month. One of the selling points for their expensive high power Amps is connecting multiple subs in parallel since they are stable at 2 ohms. Well, long story short... some guy blew out his top tier Amp from them by trying to run too much stuff on it.
Moral of the story... don't get greedy. It will all work out in the end.
Yea, playing around with those kinds of things can be nasty when someone thinks they're ok with dancing with chans of low resistance monster loads.

The NX6000D is on sale at SweetWater right now, $550, crazy price. 3000watts at 4ohm per channel and its 2 channel. And the amp has a built in DSP. Plenty of power for a double setup since two subs output is a lot easier to handle than trying to push a single sub to do the same job. But yea, just 2 subs per amps on these 2 channel. I wouldn't imagine putting 4+ on one amp. That's silly and asking for damage. Better have a dedicated breaker too.

The Behry Amps are great prices, but you will never see that power out of one of those.
Here's Amir's review of the NX3000D:
Supposed to get 440 at 8 ohms... got 234.

LOL 3000 watts on a wall plug? (Ryan's example puts it in perspective better, but these PMPO type claims, meh)

You guys are killing me! I appreciate all the responces. Are there plans and cut sheets for martys? Those flat packs do look nice, can’t beat nice clean CNC cuts and dados etc….. yeah it’s more money than me buying a sheet and cutting myself but that convenience is tough to beat. Like I said I have no doubt I can build it and put a decent finish on a DIY. But I literally wouldn’t even know how to hook up an external amp to my receiver, never mind setup a Mini dsp. Is there any good YouTube videos I can look into how all that stuff is setup for beginners?

True true, it's a 13lb $550 ($850) amp. It works of course. But good points it will not perform at those max specs. But in a typical theater room it should still be plenty of power in a 30x20 room. But again it works, GSG pairs them for a reason I suppose.

Amir measures everything and says it's poopoo or great anyways. I'm not worried about that. ;) :p

Look at the options, they even host videos from amateurs that built theirs to showcase that are not employees. There's lots of YouTube videos on building these. They've been around for years now. Very well known in the DIY community. GSG gives you simple access with no tools other than clamps and wood glue to build these.

To be fair, he did not decapitate the Panther... He also did not recommend it (noisy fan, as well).
Regardless, general consensus is to check out Crown XLS if it is going to be in-room as these run pretty quiet. If it's not in the room, doesn't matter.

I posted a link to the avsforum Marty faq thread in post 57, this one https://www.avsforum.com/threads/martysub-faq.1648673/

There will be such if you dig thru the thread IIRC

ps Hooking up an amp to an avr's pre-outs is fairly simple, don't need a video for it.

pps guess I didn't have the same link in my copy/paste thing, fixed now. Also I see there just might be some video on how to hook things up in that thread, too

For sure, Crown are great. Lots of people want these dead silent amps for their "hifi" home theater systems as discretes and pay out their booty when pro audio equipment can do it too and you won't hear a lot of them as you listen to a movie.

I am curious how much actual power is needed on a sensitive 18" Marty Cube. Obviously different in each room and setup, but a general series of SPL at various distances in a few common room sizes, etc.

Crown XLS are not too pricey, dual channel 775w at 4ohm for $700ish.

This one? https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/crown-xls2502-stereo-amplifier-review.10627/

What is the sensitivity of the Marty Cube with what driver? You could use an spl calculator if known....

It depends on what driver, and what you are asking that driver to do. Trying to push an Eminence NSW-6021 is a lot different than the Dayton UM-18.
I'm not suggesting that you actually need 5000w to drive that NSW, but if you want that to perform down low, you have to pay the piper with power to push that motor. ;)
*shrugs
Even Nick from SI suggests having a capable Amp to fully power his Drivers. The SQL15s I'm building Subs with, he actually says I should have 2000w available for them!

Good question, I'm not sure what the final sensitivity is in the Cube box with the 95db sensitive driver for the final results are. I'll have to see if anyone has it measured or calculated. I imagine it's pretty sensitive though, as that's the point of these big boxes for really low frequency output at high SPL. Granted, again, in a fairly normal sized room at a few feet (6~12 feet) listening position these things will easily do more than what THX spec was supposed to be. I'm way less concerned with hitting 17~18hz as simply doing really great from 20~30hz for the 99% of all content appeal using that. Very little actually hits 16~17hz in reality.

Especially a sealed sub needing eq....
