Respecting all people who post.

The world is made up of all kinds of people with all kinds of opinions.
Some opinions are important to some people some advice is important to others.
We should respect each other's opinion and not try to shut them down when they post something that may not be helpful to you but will be helpful to others. I think we should all respect each other here and everywhere.
I would never be rude to anyone and I think no one should be rude to me if I post something that is my opinion it should be respected just like when others post something that's their opinion it should be respected.
Let's all play nice and respect each other's opinions that's what makes the world go around.
Like others have said, it’s inevitable that you will get offended by the way some people say things.

Asking them to change the way they talk to you isn’t going to work because they won’t listen or change for you whether it is in person or on forums. :D

Just do what any of us do - use the IGNORE feature. :D

If only that works in person. :D

Seriously, I have no life.
Seriously, you call that a kitten?!? (just kidding, of course)
Yeah, I call that a kitten- you got a problem with that? Where do you live? I'll send it over to kick your dog's a$$!

He's very feisty, ya know.

Opinions are like a$$holes and there is no shortage of either 'round here. Anybody coming around here hawking their own wares or looking for subscribers while pretending to engage in casual conversation about one thing or another can go f#%k themselves. I say this with all due respect, of course.;)
I'd like to talk to you about your car's warranty.....

There is a long history of butt-munching idiots here that aren't interested in supporting the community for what it was created to be: a place to share, discuss and learn about AV gear.
Are you Beevis or Butthead?

Hard to respect someone who posts:

"Sounds like another plan to destroy America what happens when the power plants go down because of a EMP no one gets to drive at that point there will be no more gas cars so everyone will have to walk even motorcycles are turning over to electricity and bicycles so did anyone think about an EMP that Russia had already threatened to put on the United States I think this whole thing is a plan to destroy our way of life created by our own government."

In response to several posts after that but apparently @Hetfield "You sound like an extremely bitter person you don't think I know that the whole thing is a plan to destroy the United States as we know it many people are asleep I just have knowledge of many different things."

Really really hard to respect that kinda stuff :)

I have no idea what's going on here
I kinda do, but it hurts to think about. *shrugs
I suspect diving into OP's threads will answer the question. If you are brave.
I value my sanity and stopped, quickly.

OP has some whack opinions. People pointed out the issues with them and he apparently got butt-hurt enough about that to post an entire thread about how we should respect all opinions. Apparently, even ones that have no basis in reality or fact.

I can’t respect the opinion of anybody who uses an “a” before EMP. Always precede an acronym or word beginning with a vowel sound with “an.” Now, let’s keep this party going!

The select times I shut down people are those who.
A. tv over fireplaces.
B. In ceiling surrounds.
C. want surround sound in a living room and and not wanting to place apeakers in the proper placements.
D. Soundbars.
E. Small tvs eg 42 inches. And not buying one large enough.
F. People who sit a mile away from the tv and has a tiny phone sized screen in the distance. Eg more than 10 feet away.

These all make the tv and surround sound experience horrible and I encourage people to do the right thing to maximize their enjoyment.

Respect all? No, but Cordial to all, yes. Now, I have read your posts and I find some are needlessly argumentative, and one shows ignorance of facts about the topic. So, this being a forum for exchange of ideas you should expect corrective responses, as well as rejection of your ideas on matters. That's not being disrespectful. It's just informed opinion trumping uninformed opinion, which it appears you cannot handle as evidenced from your response suggesting disrespect.

If you are posting in a opinion-based topic, then by all means I agree. There is no reason to be rude.

Knowing the difference between someone calling you an a$$hole, and someone calling you completely wrong in your opinion are two different things. The first is a verbal attack of you that offers no furthering of the discussion, the other is just a rebuttal with commentary of your opinion. The first is rude, the second is not.

So many people are unable to understand the difference.

On the other hand, I've seen a number of posts from you that suggest that you are highly uninformed about AV. You have put forth several posts where you have stated as fact things which are provably wrong. Not just bad opinion. But, bad opinion that you have put forth as 'fact', which demonstrates a severe lack of knowledge of the subject matter which you are making claims about.

It's made worse by the reality that if you were to get a better product and put it head to head with what you are making statements about, you would be shocked at how quickly your statements would be proven as false.

I have had any number of times when I've said things which others have pointed out as being incorrect to me. I hate when that happens, but it does. When it does, I specifically try to thank the person who has corrected me, and I revise my post (if I can) or I state that my previous post was incorrect so others don't get caught up in the bad information that I provided.

These forums aren't about patting others on the back over and over. They are about the sharing of information. That information may very well be opinion, or opinionated ideas. Like 'how to set a room up properly' when it is a weird room. There will be ideas thrown around. Like 'what equipment should I buy', or 'what do you think of my setup'. These are going to have some opinions in them. Some will be good, some will be bad.

Making claims as fact, which are provably incorrect, deserves to be shut down immediately. If nobody calls you names in the process, then it isn't rude, it is just shutting down misinformation. If you continue to post the same bad information, then you will need to perhaps learn that things aren't as you claim.

I respect anyone's right to have an opinion and share that opinion. I don't have to respect every opinion tho and some, if they're ridiculous enough, are indeed worthy of ridicule. Its right there in the word...

That's the funny thing about being wrong. It feels exactly like being right until you discover otherwise.

Nobody likes being wrong, but the smart ones will acknowledge when they are and learn from it.

I do agree about receivers though, as that concept is long overdue for a rethink. Cramming a ton of power amps in, as has been the fashion, is just an open invitations to trouble. So I don't even touch'em with a barge pole!
You'll find a way to to squeeze in some hate for AVRs no matter what the topic is won't you?? :p
