Regarding "taking out" Putin, I assume everyone is aware that Jason Bourne, James Bond and Ethan Hunt are all fictional characters. The only way he will leave office is if he retires, dies there (of natural causes) or is removed (arrest or assassination) from within.
Not true, I met James Bond at the lift... going to breakfast at Doubletree by Hilton, Leeds, UK
although he looked astonishingly similar to Daniel Craig

Functionally, what's the difference if he's taken out by someone from inside or outside of the Kremlin?

I really hope Putzki doesn't attack a NATO country. The response from the other members might make him think it's necessary to launch nukes and that's obviously the last thing we need.
I mean from a feasibility standpoint. An outsider is just not going to gain access. But, now that you mention it, if it was possible for an outsider to get to him, what would be the fallout? Russia would blame NATO (regardless of who did it) and we would be at war with Russia. Then, all bets are off.

Bottom line is, from a tactical standpoint, it has to come from within; from a strategic standpoint, it has to come from within.

As for attacking a NATO country, he already has his hands full with Ukraine. He would just be compounding his problems. Unless he develops an apocalyptic mindset, nuclear weapons are off the table. If he does reach for the button, I believe one or more of his minions would finally step in and say enough is enough.

Xenia Onatoppa is fictional? Damn.

It's rare for Russian/Soviet leaders to be "taken out" as mentioned. Think the last time was in 1910? the Premier then was shot by a reputed member of the Okhrana (Czarist predecessor of the KGB).
They are usually poisoned in their sleep, like popes....
1910? That was just the other day but thanks for the reminder.

It's not just oil. BP and Shell seem to be inline to lose the most. 25b and 3 b writeoffs.
Natural Gas investment by the Europeans might be more painful. Think of Nord 2 and all additional investments related NG over the last 15 years.
It seems the Germans are rethinking their Nuclear Power "strategy"....

I predict Poutin will be assinated through an arrangement of one of his extremely bitter oligarchy "friends" whose wealth has suddenly been seized through sanctions and or anonymous. Thats how this is going to roll out.

I saw that BP is writing off their loss that will occur after cutting ties with Rosneft (I saw $10B as the amount). That won't matter much- their shares only lost a bit more than 6%.

Did you see Psaki saying that we need to stop using fossil fuels anyway, as if she has any say in the matter? If she's actually making policy, we have a problem. She seems to think we can stop using those fuels immediately.

Immediately, if not sooner. :)

I hope so-

As the Russian convoy comes closer, Ukraine needs to take out vehicles at the front, so the ones behind them can see how badly it will go if they don't stop. That should change some minds.

Back to the real world, and how Russians actually do assassinations. From the Washington Post, 2 March 2022
A recent alleged assassination plot against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was foiled over the weekend and the Chechen servicemen sent from Russia were “destroyed,” a Ukrainian security leader said Tuesday.

Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said during a broadcast marathon airing on Ukrainian TV channels that officials were recently tipped off that a unit of Kadyrovites, elite Chechen special forces, was on its way to kill Zelensky. After Ukrainian officials were informed by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the Chechen special forces were killed Saturday on the outskirts of Kyiv, Danilov said.

“We are well aware of the special operation that was to take place directly by the Kadyrovites to eliminate our president. And I can say that we have received information from the FSB, who today do not want to take part in this bloody war,” Danilov said. “And thanks to this, the Kadyrov elite group was destroyed, which came here to eliminate our president.”
Wikipedia had this to say
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kadyrovtsy
Kadyrovtsy volunteer units participated in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24. Ramzan Kadyrov confirmed on February 26 that the Kadyrovtsy had been deployed in Ukraine. They were reportedly deployed to capture and kill Ukraine's leaders. Western sources described the deployment of Chechen Kadyrovtsy as "leveraging the very presence of Chechen soldiers in Ukraine as a psychological weapon against Ukrainians".

The Kyiv Independent reported the destruction of a Chechen column of 56 tanks by Ukrainian missiles near Hostomel on 27 February. According to Ukrainian sources, the missile attack had been delayed because the Kadyrovtsy had been hiding behind civilian infrastructure. On March 1, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov claimed that Chechen fighters in Ukraine had sustained losses of two killed and six wounded.

I'm not trying to be a downer man but the Ukraines are badly needing ammo and other weapons

With the major cities being surrounded and a no fly zone is established how are we to get those supplies to them?

We could end up just giving it to the Russians on accident. They are putting up a brave fight beyond brave this is like 300 level epic sh$t when a few stood against many kind of bravery.

But if they can't get resupplied I don't know how much longer they can hold out

Unless anyone knows something maybe they have figured out a way
