Yamaha RX-A1080

I hope I'm not becoming too obnoxious with my threads, but as some may know I'm looking into replacing my Anthem MRX510 with something that will sound as good or better, but also have the latest HDMI capabilities. This looks like a real beast!

I think I found it, however i do notice that the specs don't specifically mention 4k@120 refresh rate. Am I missing something?

If you can wait, it would be good to wait a year or try this Christmas. At the moment prices are way to high for everything. If you cannot wait, then may be bite the bullet and grab the AVR-X3700H.

Why would the avr need particularly that sort of video processing? What are you plugging into the avr where you need that?

The Yamaha RX-A1080 cannot and will not get an update for 4K HDR @120Hz capability. For 4k HDR @120Hz, You will need to look to their newer models that are currently waiting for a firmware update to enable some HDMI 2.1 features.

A Roku, fire stick, or computer. Maybe the computer is the only device that can output at 120

If you have content that has it....then again never really cared if a tv could do a higher refresh rate than content either.

I've been thinking about your comment, and second guessing my need for 120. If ever get a gaming system I could plug directly into the display. Am I correct in saying the 4k players only output 4K@60Hz? My roku stick is 60 hz also. So I guess I'm not really finding a good reason to pursue a receiver that can pass 4k@120hz.

That's why I asked, to see just what your 120 content is. I'm not a gamer and 4k isn't even that interesting to me (nor is there tons of content and I've had issues streaming just 1080p here). If you don't even have a console or aren't a gamer, what's the point? If you do go that way down the line, maybe they'll have eARC working well too so you can get your lossless audio back from the display without funky issues that tends to bring (since consoles tend to have just one output, whereas you could get a 4k bluray player with separate outputs for tv/avr....

The Panasonic ub820 will be here on Thursday, it has dual hdmi outs. I like the prices on a4less for the non 120hz receivers too. I might abandon this search and stick to 4k @60
