I officially switched to Independent a few elections ago too because our prospects are meager at best.

In Australia we are paying from a $1.72 up to $1.80 per litre Roughly speaking, that's 4 litres to a gallon, or $6.88 [ $4.95 usa ] per gallon.
Diesel is even worse at $2.20 a litre [ $1.58 usa ] or $6.32 a gallon usa

Cali average of $4.71 is low for the Bay Area. It has been around that level for around a year. My two cars are both premium and I'm averaging right around $5, with the highest I've paid being $5.29 but I see it as high as $5.49. Fortunately, my commute was short before and is basically zero now, but still hate to see that. I'd get an electric car but without a commute, there's not a lot of point to that. Our other car is a hybrid so that's what goes on long hauls.

My friends and I discuss this sort of thing a lot, since we all drive cars that like plenty of gas, and we would not be surprised to see $6 for premium as soon as this year. It will be before that point I will be selling one of the STIs. The upside of that is KBB has it at more than I paid for it 6 years ago.

As pointed out policies can affect prices but I feel a more interesting question is Shady what do you feel Biden and Harris have done right?
I'm not saying your defending him but if your asking us what we don't like that Biden has done do you mind some of us asking you in the spirit of inquiry what you believe he has done right?
It's not that I think they have done anything right so much as they haven't done anything especially wrong. I think the pull-out from Afghanistan could have been handled better, but the reality is that was bad optics as a fall-out from decisions by the Trump administration. It was a mistake, but it was a cosmetic one. But most policy decisions made by Biden's people have been sensible and unobjectionable. Not really newsworthy, but then level-headed policy setting shouldn't really ever be a big story. The reason why Trump was on the headlines night after night was because of something appalling; a major screw-up, open corruption, an offensive gaffe, or a heinous policy.

We are not likely to see any big overt wins from the Biden administration but at least we won't have any Trump-level disasters. And one thing I will always be grateful for is the roll-out and distribution of the COVID vaccines. There was zero chance of that happening as smoothly as it did if Trump were still president. It really took Biden to do that.

I also think that Biden is handling the Russian-Ukraine conflict deftly. Not putting USA troops in harm's way, but promising serious pain to Russia if they invade- and what is better is that he is not doing that unilaterally. It is a coalition effort. If Trump were still president, you know that Russia would have already invaded Ukraine. Hell, Trump might have supported Russia. One of the reasons why Trump's efforts to sanction China was a limp failure was because he would only do it unilaterally. As a nationalist and a xenophobe, he didn't want to involve other countries in curbing China, and so all of his posturings came to nothing.

My one big gripe against the Biden administration is that they are being far too soft on Republicans. They should be much more aggressive on punishing Republicans for their voting suppression and their collaboration with Russia. Their squeamishness on this matter is going to have a huge cost on this country later.

Seriously, I have no life.
If we paid $4 in 2006 or so, now we are just a bit higher after 16 years. That isn't bad.
Maybe oil should come off the commodity exchanges? Or just close that exchange altogether.

Some things I really do agree with what you posted but some things I dont. I extremely dislike Trump its why I sat out the last 2 elections. If I couldnt vote left I sure as heck couldnt live with myself voting for him on the right. But I'm really tired of everyone going to Trump as the reason for problems right now. That's just your default. Everything that goes wrong it's his fault everything that goes right Biden and supporters are quick to take all the credit.

I have tons of things I don't like this administration for. But let's just focus on 2 of yours that stand out the most.

Afghanistan is all Bidens sorry just disagree with you on that one. We armed the Taliban with more guns then Rambo. Yet back here in the States Bidens administration the left wants to go after guns for families that just want to protect there own like no other. It's like they trust a terrorist organization more then they do there own citizens.

And this idea of punishing Republicans for voter suppression where do you come up with this stuff? It's like when you went off on a rant on the Rittenhouse thread saying he and his family were white supremacists there to assassinate black people. Which was so factually untrue.

Everybody rightfully trashed Trump for casting doubt on the results of the election but Biden does the same thing because he cant get his voting rights bill passed which lets face it dems only want because it favors there party and there in trouble on the midterms and all of a sudden he gets a pass? He is gaslighting that same reaction that Trump did by questioning integrity results of elections but its okay if Biden does it. OK got it

I mean democrats have won the popular vote for how many terms and they won the last election by like 10 million votes? But election integrity must be maintained. :D

Maybe if the left and Biden hadn't royally screwed up on so many areas they wouldn't need to be in a panic with the midterms

Here's where I agree with you

I do think we owe Biden for the vaccine rollout

I do think he is doing a pretty darn good job with the Russia Ukraine and China Taiwan situations

I do like as you correctly pointed out that he is seeking alliances and unilateral support I agree with you on Trumps idea of America only won't work in our modern world

I'm also willing to give him his full 4 years before I grade him. He deserves a shot.
But man he'd better step up his game and that goes to his party as well in a lot of areas because as of right now it's not looking good right now on the current report card.

On the vaccines and other areas of Covid yeah I agree the other party went full retard. But it already came back to bite them Lovin. And it cost them big time.

It cost them the last election and the control of the Senate.

But they are not in charge Lovin. Biden is. Trump just loved being THE MAN well the buck is on you then Trump ol buddy and Republicans with theyre failure to lead in the pandemic.

Now thats reversed Biden is in charge hes THE MAN and dems are im charge. But Dems are just missing the boat on so many issues that are alienating voters not by inches but by miles. To the point that like a poster said above I'm really worried we may end up with Trump round 3 in 2024.

But I will give Biden 4 full years tho.

Let's see how he does with our nation when the pandemic isn't creating so much confusion and turmoil. He could end up surprising me he already has with how he's handling the Russia and China issues. I will straight up give him credit where credit is due

You really should vote if you can. Vote for the politician(s) whose policies you think will be better for the country. Unfortunately, both our parties have given into this "cult of personality" b.s. that ends up clouding the issues and what we should be focused on.

Biden is simply president.....the drumphy stuff not sure what you're saying there.

If the dems controlled congress, that could be another matter as to being THE MAN. It's just more of the same in the meantime. What are the dems missing the boat on particularly? Gas prices? Please do not say scary sh*t like drumph making a run in 2024 let alone winning. We do have some really stupid voters, tho.

You have plans like drumph to shorten Biden's term? :)

Maybe we should adopt drumphy's bizarre thought that the incumbent VP can toss the election results in favor of keeping those in power in power....maybe Harris can appoint herself president with that kinda logic!

I do hope we see some improvements but the swimming in place, or even backwards a bit like under drumph, we can get somewhere but it doesn't look particularly good.

It simply means they and Biden are in charge. That's what happens when you win an election. Fair or not everything you make a decision on from this point is going to be put on you.

Which I'm okay with.

I was okay with all the scrutiny and treatment Trump got by the media. I know some said it wasn't fair but I was down with it

I mean I want a strong leader the strength of any leader should be constantly tested especially when your in one of the most important and powerful positions in the world that shouldnt even be debatable
I just want to see it go both ways.

I feel like if all our leaders in politics in every position got the levelof scrutiny that Trump got we would all be better off for it

Why does one guy represent a particular strength to you? Sounds like why drumphy admires Putin. Is that why actors/entertainment figures like Reagan, Schwarzenegger and drumphy are so popular with republicans? :) drumph I hope we're not done with, he's so f*cking dirty (even more so than other scumbags like McCarthy or Nixon etc)

You know exactly what I mean and I never said Trump was a strong leader I said he deserved all the scrutiny he got so we could see if he was one.

I also said every leader in charge every political party should get that same level of scrutiny.

I'm going to play with my new speakers.

If your going to get hung up on the word Trump or constantly make claims of what conservatives like or don't like completely sidestepping my point

Then your choosing to either be intentionally dense or intentionally deflecting. And I know your not dense. Have a good night I'm playing with the system :D
