Three important questions:
1) What make/model bookshelves?
2) Size of room?
3) Budget?

Kinda nice looking except for the silly vu meters, but $9500? NFW.

ps nor does it seem to do what the OP wants it to do either....

I know, it's 'kinda cute' though !

46 years ago my first integrated was a sweet Technics piece, still have a soft spot for that set up .....

Hi all, answers to questions:

bookshelfs are Elac, DB62
Using for basement workout room, about 15 x 25 ish
budget is flexible, but that the Techniques receiver is a smidge more than I’d hoped….

really the original functionality listed is key for this application.

appreciate the replies !

'cc', the Technics piece I linked to is not a receiver rather an integrated amp, you would still have to add a tuner. You would then be into 5 figure territory , gulp ........

Given that you're using it for a workout room, why do you want an integrated amp ? why not just a receiver ?

Yes. a receiver could be an option. Wondering if they are able to stream direct from pc? Anyone have experience with blue sound and would that connect direct to pc through upnp ?

I stream all the time from my pc over my wifi network, doing it now via foobar 2000 to my avr (or bluray players or Chromecast Audio units), via DLNA particularly (but suppose upnp is involved at same time from what I've seen in the past and I do also use bubbleupnp apps on my android phone and tablet to stream to these devices as well). Trouble with some avrs now is they depend more on a tv for display of the gui for setup, but often can still be done from the front panel, particularly for simple setups.

What is your budget? If you want to make it easy, versatile (will do everything you're asking and more) and can be controlled by smart phone or computer, consider one of the Yamaha pieces, either an AVR, integrated or Yamaha MusicCast WXC-50 with a separate amplifier. I'm using the WXC-50 with a Parasound A23 power amp and it sounds really good. The WXC-50 is acting as my preamp and controls the volume & all source switching as well as streaming, will accept AirPlay, BT, DLNA, has a USB port, optical & digital coax in and if you have or want a sub, it has an output for that, too. If you want the self-contained version, the Yamaha WXA-50 will do everything and it has a good amplifier, too.

We can definitely vouch for MusicCast. Best there is. :D
